10 Ways to Get Rid of Negativity

         By Daniel Harper

We all have moments when everything seems like the glass is always half empty. From there everything starts
to look bad, small things irritate you and people you normally interact with suddenly become the source of all
your problems. These snowball effect of negative thoughts will eventually turn things into one big ugly
disaster. So before it eats everything that is good in you, here are ten ways to get rid of negativity.

• Meditate. Meditation promotes an environment that calms and clears the mind. Give yourself time to
contemplate on what is actually happening so you can change your perspective. Ask yourself
questions like, “Is this worth losing sleep over?”, “Will I let this ruin my day?” or “Is this how I want
to spend my precious time?” Once your mind is clear of negative thoughts, fill it with positive ones
then focus on it and don’t let go.

• Be with positive people. Negative thoughts attract negative people that create negative situations.
Stop being in their company and start surrounding yourself with positive people. Once you’re with
them, do your part and try to be positive as well. Some positive people don’t have lots of patience with
negative people as they want to spend their time with those who are positive as well. Listen, interact
    and learn from them.
• Smile. Smiling triggers some part of your brain that makes you happy. It is effective in altering your
mood and relieving stress. So before you go out, look at yourself in the mirror and give yourself the
    best smile that you got.

• Get rid of negative things. Aside from avoiding negative people, you should also try to avoid things
that spark negativity. I’m not saying that you should throw away all those papers you are working on
but instead try to remove clutter and trash. If you’re at the office, clean your desk and beautify it.
Place an indoor plant or flower to give your workstation a fresh feeling or post some photos of family
and friends to keep your spirits high.
• Listen to music. Music has a lot to offer when it comes to your health. Listening to upbeat or relaxing
music can alter your mood and take away your attention from negative thoughts. It is also effective in
    relieving stress and depression.

• Stop worrying. Worrying is like sitting on a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but actually
gets you nowhere. So stop spending your time worrying about things that you don’t have control over.
If you are worried about something then do something about it, otherwise, let it go. Stop worrying and
    start living.
• Be helpful. Doing nice things for other people can do wonders. Not only it will make you feel good
about yourself but it will also take your mind of negative things. At least one good deed a day will go
    a long way.

• Read positive quotes. Whenever I feel bad about something I always search for words of wisdom that
can help me understand my situation. Quotes are effective in giving advice and keeping you inspired.
• Be thankful. Always be thankful of the blessings that you receive every day even if you’re not aware
of them. You can be thankful about simple things like a good night’s sleep, food to eat, the beautiful
weather, having a family and a job. List the things you are grateful for and read it every day when you
wake up. This will help you focus on positive things and develop a grateful attitude.

• Pray. Never forget to talk to God. Talk to him about the things that bother you and ask him to fill your
heart and mind of positive things. Have faith.
The greatest power we have over negativity is choice. We can either choose to be happy or be miserable. It is
entirely up to us on how we want to live our lives.

“Every day may not be good, but there is something good in every day.”

Are you really serious about becoming healthy mind,
body and spirit and change your life once and for all!
