					Impact Wrench
• Impact Wrench
•A pneumatic device used to tighten
nuts or bolts. It is designed to deliver
high torque output by storing energy
then delivering it suddenly as a
  rotating motion.

Fatality
  • An employee slid an impact wrench down
a 1:12 pitch roof to position it near the roof
edge on a 90 foot wide roof.

  • Employee misjudged roof condition (light
frost on roof) and the impact wrench was
not slowing down. Fearing that it would go
over the roof edge the employee began
       running after the wrench.

  • The foreman saw this and told him to stop
but the employee continued after wrench,
diving after it and slid off the roof edge on
       his stomach and impacted approximately
20 feet out from the building on the asphalt
       driveway.

  • The elevation of roof edge was 23 feet and
       4 inches above the ground.

  Safety Precautions
• Keep work area clean
• Store idle equipment
• Use the right tools for the job
• Dress properly - do not wear loose
clothing or jewelry as they can be caught
 in moving parts.

 Safety Precautions
• Use eye and ear protection - always
  wear ANSI approved impact safety
  goggles.

• Disconnect power when not in use.
• Remove adjusting keys and wrenches

  Safety Precautions
• Avoid unintentional starting - Be sure the
switch is in the Off position when not in
 use and before plugging in.

• Check for damaged parts
• Maintenance - For your safety, service
 and maintenance should be performed
 regularly by a qualified technician.

          Operation plugs.
• Put on safety glasses and ear
• Select the desired socket and verify
proper fit on the nut or bolt being
secured or removed. Then, secure the
socket on the Anvil of the Impact
  Wrench.
• Hand screw on the nut or bolt as far as
  possible.
• Check for air leaks at the air hose
connections. If a leak is detected,
disconnect the air hose and repair the
  leak. Source: http://www.harborfreight.com/manuals/92000-92999/92622.pdf
            Operation
• Set the Impact Wrench Regulator to the
    desired direction and torque setting.
• While holding the Impact Wrench with
both hands, place the Anvil with socket
squarely over the nut or bolt.
• Squeeze the Trigger to begin loosening
or tightening. Be prepared for great
torque on the Handles. Let the Impact
    Wrench do the work.

          Operation
• When finished, release the Trigger, and
lift the Impact Wrench off the nut.
• Remove the air supply hose, then
squeeze the Trigger again to release
any remaining air pressure in the Impact
  Wrench air chamber.
• Turn off the air compressor.

           Operation
• Note: Do not over tighten the nut or bolt.
If it will not tighten enough at the
maximum setting, do not continue. Use
a manual torque wrench to tighten. If
  available, check the specific torque
settings for the nut or bolt.
• Caution: Never increase pressure at the
  air compressor regulator to achieve
  more torque.

        Maintenance
• After each use, wipe the Impact
Wrench with a clean cloth to remove
  any dirt and grease buildup.
• To maintain tool life, lubricate air line by
adding a few drops of pneumatic tool
oil to the air line before each use.
• Before each use, drain water out of the
  air compressor tank and condensation
  from the air lines.
• Store the Impact Wrench in a clean and
  dry location.
