					FLY LAB PRICE LIST Oct 2011

1) Embryo injection

We are offering P-element and phiC31 transformation services, structured as
follows:


         P

Plan 1             £130 Inject 200 embryos, provide surviving larvae.
Plan 2             £180 Provide unbalanced G2 transformants.
Plan 3             £250 Provide balanced lines*.
*Note: For Plan 3, from the initial 200 injected embryos we aim to provide a minimum of 2 independent
insertions per autosome (chs 2 and 3).

Plan 4             £130 Inject 200 embryos from any of our phiC31; attP stocks**
                        (list HERE); provide surviving larvae.
Plan 5             £210 Provide balanced lines.
**We can also inject a clients’s preferred strain, by arrangement.

Plan 1 and Plan 4 are injection only - we cannot guarantee to re-inject should the
first attempt fail. In all other cases we will inject a further 200 embryos.

2) Fly pushing and stock keeping

We can discuss individual needs for fly pushing and give advice on screen design
and stock construction (for free!). Technician's time is charged at £30 per hour
plus the cost of media.

Stock keeping is charged at £30 per tray (70 stocks) per month, plus the cost of
media.

3) Media costs

Over a 5-year period we are ramping-up media costs annually with the intention
of making the Genetics fly facility at least 80% self-sufficient by 2013.

Media is sold by the tray or half tray. One tray holds 150 tubes or 20 bottles.

Charges are levied in August and February for the preceding 6 months.


4) Fly stocks

£20 per stock plus £5 (UK) or £10 (rest of the world) per package for sending
stocks. Free for collection by Cambridge labs.
