 Sweatshirts: Mary-Ann Gillan reported that an order had been done in February and another
order will be done next term which will be the “big” order including the new P1 intake order.
Donald reported that the profit from the sweatshirts is currently ~ £550.
 May Fayre: The date for the May Fayre was set at Saturday 16th May, this will be the week
before the Fife Show. The usual format will be followed of stalls, a funfair and various displays.
Many ideas were put forward including getting the new school choir to perform along with
asking the cheerleaders and judo to do displays. Lesley Howie passed round a sheet for
volunteers to nominate tasks to do on the day - this will be typed up by Lesley for the next
meeting. Linda Anderson asked that any balloons used on the day be biodegradable due to
environmental concerns. Donald Jenks suggested asking the Fife Chief of Police to open the
Fayre which was agreed. Mandy Heggie suggested approaching Fife Animal Park to provide a
display which was also agreed. More ideas and allocation of tasks will be discussed at the
     next meeting.

SCHOOL REPORT
Linda Anderson reported following information:

 The recent Scottish week was a good success with every class in the school involved. Sonsie
Music had also come to the school and performed two shows so that all the pupils had the
     opportunity to see them.

 Rowan Groat won the recent Cupar Burn’s Competition with a brilliant recitation of Tam
O’Shanter. She will now go on to the Fife-wide Burn’s Competition and we wish her well.

 This is the beginning of Fair Trade fortnight which the school will be participating in. This
includes trying to break the Guiness World Record for banana eating – parents welcome to
participate! There is a Fair Trade trail through the shops in Cupar town centre which the
children will be encouraged to go on with their parents.

 Tracey Fryer and Linda Anderson are now actively involved in helping and advising other
schools throughout Fife who are trying to achieve Fair Trade status.

 Next week (2nd to 6th March) will be Writing Week and the topic this year is “Islands”. The
primary 7 pupils will be split into different working groups instead of their usual classes. This is
give them experience of working with different people in different groups as part of their
transition to Bell Baxter High School.

 Primary 6 had a visit from Medieval Methil as part of their recent topic of “Mary, Queen of
Scots”. The pupils had a great day carrying out activities on weapons, clothing, dance, food,
etc. all from that period of time.

 The new school choir had performed at the recent Cupar in Bloom coffee morning and had
been a big hit. They had received a lot of positive comments and praise.

 The Book Fair will be in school on 24th February to 2nd March. Volunteers to help run the book
fair would be greatly appreciated, just let Sharon in the school office know of your interest.

 The cycling proficiency classes will start next Thursday (5th March) and will provide 10 weeks
of training. The Community Police Officer Alan Hoggan has been helping with setting up the
classes and Keith Davies was kind enough to inspect the condition of the bicycles that will be
     used.

 The Primary 6 pupils have started their swimming tuition which will now run for the rest of this
     term.

 A Castlehill Connect Concert has been arranged by Amy Duncan-Morris for the 13th of March.
All proceeds from this will go to purchasing more equipment for the Trim Trail.

 The new website www.fifedirect.org.uk/castlehillps is launched and is now being added to
and updated. Comments and feedback are still needed.
 Deputy Headteacher Carol Opdahl has been seconded to Kingskettle Primary to cover for the
Headteacher there who is on sick leave. This has meant several members of staff have had to
take on extra workload and Linda Anderson was very grateful to them.

 Karen Milne thanked the Association for the recent donation to buy construction equipment.
All the school areas had now bought new equipment and it was being well used.

A.O.B

The next Parent Council meeting has been changed to Monday 9th March at 7pm.

Lesley Knox gave some catalogues to Karen Milne with details of outdoor play equipment which
could be used for the Trim Trail.

Mandy Heggie asked if a date for the next Ceilidh should be sought and it was agreed to try and
book the Corn Exchange for the same time next year.

It was agreed that the DJ at the recent Valentine Disco had been better and should be used again
for future events – maybe even the May Fayre.
