Job Title: Sr. Manager, Medical Billing
Pay Band: 10
FLSA Status: Exempt (Paid Monthly)
General Description (Purpose and Function):
In conjunction with the Director, Medical Billing this individual will develop and implement policies and processes to
reduce inefficiencies and maximize revenue by improving the medical billing functions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort):
The Senior Manager, Medical Billing is responsible for overseeing all medical billing functions, training a
productive and effective billing staff and ensuring billing is accurate and goes out every month on time.
Responsible for managing and supporting all aspects for the Billing Operations, including management and
oversight of third party billing organization for the medical billing employees, ensuring efficient workflow and
high productivity while managing all routine activities.
Implements and maintains best practice/ integration initiatives to improve the performance of the front-end
and back-end billing operations.
Develops statistical reports and procedures for the billing area, as well as systems for coordinating the
administrative and human resources management of the Billing functions. Develops and monitors processes
for account management and customer service for all clients, including reports, complaints, etc.
Reduces accounts receivable and days outstanding, and develops and enhances the billing procedures
Coordinates completion of all departmental documents, maintains a log of staff’s vacation, floating holidays,
and sick time.
Hire, train, counsel, and terminate support personnel with the assistance of the Director, Medical Billing for
the Department including: Approves bi-weekly time documents, Complete yearly performance evaluations,
Prepare an annual staffing plan to support the Department. Continuously evaluate and improve system
processes and ensure that new and current employees attend IDX, managed care and other training c
courses related to practice operations.
Solves difficult payment and associated business office problems. Audits problem accounts.
Meet periodically with faculty members on billing and collection matters.
Resolve problems relating to patient financial services.
Review and process billing adjustments, refunds, transfers and returned checks for administrative approval
Works in conjunction with the Director, Medical billing to on the implementation of policies and procedures as
it relates to the daily operations of the Medical Billing Office specific to the Department consistent with billing
requirements, legal collection practices, and medical technology.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to manage and coordinate the activities of other employees and ensure a high level of performance.
Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9 & CPT4 coding used for diagnoses and medical treatments.
Computer skills that include MS office.
Posses a basic working knowledge of all modifiers, surgical modifiers in particular, CPT and ICD-9 coding
and how these three items drive reimbursement.

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Bachelors degree.
Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):
Five (5) years of relevant management experience in medical billing is required.
