Innovation prize for the first Hella full-LED headlamp

Hella receives the PACE Finalist Award – confirmation of innovative leadership in the field of
automotive lighting

Lippstadt/Detroit, June 2009. The full-LED headlamp developed by Hella and available in the USA in
the Cadillac Escalade Platinum since January 2009 has received the PACE Finalist Award in Detroit. This
award – with PACE standing for Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contribution to Excellence – has been
honoring excellence in international automotive parts suppliers' products for more than 15 years now. The
award usually goes to solutions that have a significant influence on the market and represent a real
innovation for the automotive industry. Through this prize, the independent jury, which took a close look at
the innovative strength of our company during a visit to Lippstadt, is honoring a special innovation in the
field of automotive lighting. The Cadillac Escalade Platinum with the Hella full-LED headlamp is the first
sports utility vehicle (SUV) in the world to be equipped with this pioneering LED lighting technology.

With this LED headlamp from Hella, Cadillac Escalade Platinum drivers experience a lighting
performance on a par with Xenon light. The light color is even closer to daylight, which means drivers tire
less quickly and makes driving much more relaxing for them. In addition, the LED headlamp has been
given a completely new appearance by the 7 free-form projection lenses used here for the first time,
opening up new and far-reaching styling options in terms of differentiation potential for car manufacturers.
This award, which is highly regarded in the international automotive industry, impressively confirms the
company's innovative leadership in the field of automotive lighting. Every year, several hundred
companies from all over the world submit applications for the PACE Award, which is offered by
Automotive News, Ernst & Young and the Transportation Research Center Inc.
