Creating Labels In SIMS .net Using Office 2003 Produced By: Jane Ryan Reviewed By: ICT Helpline Team: ICT Helpline th Date: 30 October 2007 Version 1 Creating Labels In SIMS .net Using Office 2003 Click on the Design Report icon, or use the route Reports / Design a Report Create a New Report. Select Student Click on Next. Select On Roll Click on Next. Select the Fields to be included on your labels e.g. name of student, Reg Group, Address Block. Click on Next. Add a New Filter Select Reg Group and put a tick in the Prompt at Runtime box. Click OK. (An Additional Filter for Year Group can also be added if required). Click on Next Add Reg Group to the Fields on which to sort the report. Click on next twice. On the Define Presentations page select Word Mailmerge and Click on New. When prompted put a tick in any Reg. Group and Click OK Once the blank Word document opens select Tools / Letters and Mailings / Mail Merge At the bottom right hand corner of your screen you will see you are on Step 3 of 6. Use the Previous button to move back to Step 1 of 6. Select Labels as the document type. Click Next at the bottom right hand corner of your screen to move to Step 2 of 6. Click on Label Options on the right hand side of the screen and locate your labels. Click OK. Click on Next to move to Step 4 of 6. Fill out the first label as you wish it to appear. Data fields from SIMS can be accessed by clicking on the “More Items” to the right of the screen. Highlight the field required then Click Insert followed by Close. Once the label appears as required (including font size and style). Click Update all labels. Click on the save button at the top of the screen, then close out of Word. Once back at the Define Presentations page click on Save As. Enter a name for this report. If you wish other users to be able to run this report, remove the tick from Private. Click OK. Close out of reporting, confirming that you would like to save changes. This new class labels report can now be found in My Reports and also the Student folder.
