Clinical Fellowship Program-Department of Paediatrics
The Hospital for Sick Children is a health care, teaching and research centre affiliated with
the University of Toronto and dedicated exclusively to children. The Department of
Paediatrics is offering Departmental Fellowships for excellent candidates seeking additional
clinical and/or research training in any of the Department’s Divisions listed below.
Departmental Clinical Fellows will be appointed for a one year term (renewable) with
negotiable starting dates, as follows:
Appointments will be competitive, and will be chosen based on the candidate’s
qualifications and the quality of the training experience to be provided by the host
Each fellow will be required to provide clinical services consisting of 55 in-house
overnight shifts and 22 in-house weekend 24-hours shifts per year, covering as a
core paediatric resident.
While the program will attempt to schedule the above on call service in areas
appropriate to the Fellow’s specialty area of interest, Fellows must be prepared to
work in any area compatible with their skills and the needs of the Department
(current major needs include: Heamatology/Oncology, Bone Marrow Transplant
Unit, General Paediatrics, Neonatology, and Emergency Department).
No additional night or weekend call will be required by the sponsoring Division.
As with all clinical and/or research fellowship appointments, these fellowships are
for additional or “top-up” training: no credit towards Royal College of Physicians
and Surgeons of Canada qualifications will be offered.
Salary will be at a competitive level appropriate to the level of training.
Candidates will be required to provide their own malpractice insurance coverage.
