Diane Gonzales Bertrand (Author)
DIANE GONZALES BERTRAND is the author of numerous books for children and young adults. Her books for intermediate readers include Alicia's Treasure and Upside Down and Backwards / De cabeza y al revés, which was a finalist for the 2005 Teddy Children's Book Award and received Special Recognition, 2005 Paterson Prize for Young People. A lifelong resident of San Antonio, Bertrand teaches creative writing and composition at St. Mary's University, where she is also Writer in Residence. She lives in San Antonio, Texas with her family.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela, ALEX PARDO DeLANGE was raised there and in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before coming to the United States, where she graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She now lives in Florida with her family. In addition to her art for the Pepita Series with Ofelia Dumas Lachtman, she is also the illustrator of Tina and the Scarecrow Skins/Tina y las pieles de espantapájaros (Piñata Books, 2000), by Ofelia Dumas Lachtman, and Sip, Slurp, Soup, Soup/Caldo, caldo, caldo (Piñata Books, 1997), by Diane Gonzales Bertrand.
