Gifts In A Jar Recipes & Ideas

On the following pages you will find a collection of mixes to use for Gifts In A Jar. I have
compiled a list of various types of mixes and have also included ideas on what to put them
together with to use them in gift baskets for your Christmas gift giving.

Please keep in mind that the idea that I suggest are just things that I can think of right now.
Feel free to put your baskets together with whatever you like.

Also, if you like you could not use jars, but instead you could add the mixes to plastic baggies
and place them into clear gift bags (Dollar Store) or you can also use the same idea on brown
paper lunch bags with the tops folded over with the topper stapled on over the fold.

I hope that you will find this little e-book to be a useful tool in a quest for a frugal Christmas.

Chocolate Covered Spoons to attach to your drink mixes

12 ounce package of chocolate chips, any flavor.
40 heavy plastic spoons
Shortening
Deep glass measuring cup
Saran Wrap
Waxed paper
Thin Ribbon

Pour the chips into a heatproof container, such as a measuring cup. A deep cup is the best for this project.
Microwave the cup of chips at half power for one minute. Stir. Repeat in 30 second bursts until chocolate is
smooth and fully melted, but do NOT overcook. Add to the melted chocolate one teaspoon of shortening for
each cup of chips. Stir lightly until just blended.
Dip plastic spoons into the chocolate to coat the bowl and about one inch of the handle. If the chocolate
starts to harden, microwave 30 seconds at half power. Lay spoons on wax paper to set. When chocolate
spoons have set, put them in the freezer for 15 minutes. This makes them easier to handle when you start
to wrap them. Wrap in saran wrap. Tie with ribbon to your drink mix jar.
