Badrinath Temple or Lord Vishnu temple is also known as the Badrinarayan temple. Located in
the village of Badrinath, in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India, the temple is among the most
accessible places of worship.

About Main The Temple:

It is said that Adi Shankaracharya, the great scholar and philosopher built this magnificent
temple. But due to havoc of natural calamities the original temple was destroyed by an
avalanche and in the 17th century the Garhwal kings rebuilt it once again.

The temple is today is a beautiful structure built in typical mountain architecture. With the
brilliant "Singh Dwar color, which is the main entrance of the temple, the temple receives a
modern appeal, not to mention aesthetic beauty. The temple compound consists of about 15
idols of various Hindu deities, the main deity is Lord Vishnu or Narayan, who is depicted sitting
in a meditation position, very rare that the god who prefer reclining. Badri tree covers the god of
meditation.

Mythology behind Badrinath Temple:

There are many stories about the famous temple of Badrinath, the most famous being that Lord
Vishnu did penance here, sitting on the mountain in a very harsh climate. While meditating, the
weather deteriorated even more. His wife, the goddess Lakshmi, when she saw her husband in
such discomfort, became a Badri (berry) trees, and protected from above. Since then the place
is named both Badrinarayan.

There is a second floor that is connected with the sacred river Ganges. It is assumed that the
divine river, descending from heaven in this place, making the importance of Badrinath.

Bhim Pul: This natural bridge, made of a rock above the river Saraswati, attracts a large
number of people because of the mythology attached to it. It is said that when the Pandavas
and Draupadi his wife came here, there was no way to cross the river. Bhim, the strongest of the
five then lifted a large rock and placed it across the river, so that Draupadi could cross and be
on other side.

Mana: The last village on the Indian border, Mana is a beautiful place occupied by the Bhotia
tribes. The distance of the village from the temple is around 3 kilometres.
Mata Murti Temple: This temple is dedicated to the mother of the incarnation of Lord Vishnu of
the twins, Nar and Narayan. She was a woman who prayed fervently to the Lord, asking him his
son as an incarnation. Vishnu agreed and went out of his belly, as the twins. Later, Nar and
Narayan killed a monster.

Vyas Cave: The famous cave is believed to be the place where Vyas Muni, a saint epic
Mahabharata dictated everything to Lord Ganesh, who scored. One of the specialties of the
cave is no external sound, however strong, can reach inside. Therefore, it is considered one of
the ideal places for meditation.
