1 Introduction
1.1 What is this report about?

1.2 Definitions
Fossil fuel power generation companies (buyer 1): These companies are involved in power generation
through the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas and oil. This group also includes companies
engaged in power distribution activities.
Alternative Power generation (buyer 2): These companies are involved in power generation using
renewable resources such hydropower generation, as well as other non-conventional means such as nuclear
power and alternative power generation.
Hydropower generation: Hydropower generation involves the use of the energy of moving water for the
generation of electricity. Hydropower energy generation is a clean and inflation free form of energy due to
the absence of fuel costs and mature technology. The technology is characterized by the highest prime
moving efficiency and significant operational flexibility.
Nuclear power generation: Nuclear power generation companies make controlled use of nuclear fission
reactions to generate electricity.

renewable sources of energy, such as solar, wind, hydro, biomass, tidal and geothermal, to generate
electricity.
