                                        Messages from OUR By-Laws Committee

National Camping Travelers
From: By-Laws Committee
Having been members and Past Presidents for many years, we have a few comments to make.
First, this is a recreational club and not recognized by ANY GRAND LODGE to our knowledge. We know very well how
subordinate Lodges are operated. In regards to how lodges operate, the change to have members vote at a National Rally is out of
line. There are many Members and Clubs who do not attend National Rallys.

All members are entitled to vote.

It seems every year some clubs and members just try to find things wrong with the operations of the club. Our advice to
members and clubs, who want changes,
GET INVOLVED run for an open position at the National level. For instance 3 rd Vice President or Trustee.
The following statement is from John Groves chairman of the committee. I remember sitting around at a New Jersey State
Rally in North Jersey. A good friend Harry Bingenheimer was State Director at the time. We were complaining about the NCT,
when another good friend Marguerite Torres said, well John you can change things, run for office. I did and made a few changes.
In closing, we have no problem with some proposed changes to By-Laws and operations. But let’s get down to Camping,
Rving and enjoying Rallys.
Most important acting as Brother Master Masons.
Fraternally,
John Groves PNP Chairman
Walt Cayce PNP
Leroy Ball PNP

in Bowling Green, Kentucky, What a privilege it is to be able to choose and we sure hope that you make that choice to be with us in
July. Julian is giving out information about the Rally all along so look at the web page and news to campers for updates.
We sure need a few good men to step forward for the national offices that must be filled for NCT to continue to prosper.
Thank you for your Christmas cards and the good work that Reneé and Roger did with the News to Campers issue.
May God bless each of you, your love ones and safe traveling. From this great place called Southside.

We have had a very mild winter in Florida this year and spring is almost here. We are gearing up for the 2012 NCT Rally at
Bowling Green. June and I have not been in Mammoth Cave for 20 years. Remember to bring your sweater it’s a cool 55 degrees
and quite a pleasant hike. There are several cave tours offered, (see link: www.nps.gov/maca/index.htm.).
June and I thank the members and clubs who have volunteered to help with the 2013 rally at Talladega. If you or your club would
like to assist in any area please let me or Les Hall, my rally chairman, know as we want your expertise and experience. We should
strive to make each year better and we will grow. Also if anyone wants to continue to serve in their present position and think you’ve
got it right now, your experience is important and essential. My special thanks to Jack Johnson, our national photographer. I hope
everyone sees his work. The discs he distributes each year commemorate our rallies and are truly of historical value to NCT. We also
need someone who would like to work as NCT’s national historian. We should have a book(s) and a set of discs that remains NCT’s
history. For 45 years we have presented them annually to the outgoing national presidents. We may wind up having multiple vol-
umes and they should be on display at annual rallies. It’s our history and I know we are all proud to be a part of NCT.
The Nova Scotia tour starts just 9 days after leaving Bowling Green and the rendezvous point is 1375 miles away, near Ellsworth,
Maine. Visit www.masonicrvtours.com for more info. May GOD grant you safe travel.

    Hello Fellow NCTer’s:
Greetings from sunny Florida. It’s been nice to see so many of the members down here. I am hoping to see many of you at
the Snowbird Luncheon in Kissimmee and Sebring. Plans for the 2014 International Rally are progressing well, and, if our proposal
is approved by the board in July, will be held a the Grange Fairgrounds in Centre Hall, PA on July 20-24, 2014. I would like to re-
mind all the Chapters about the Chapter of the Year Award to be presented at the National and encourage them to participate. The
format can be found on Page #31 of the Operations Manual. I would like to see competition for the First, Second and third Place
Awards. I plan to attend as many State and District Rallies as I can work into my schedule this year and hope to see all of you at the
National Rally in Bowling Green in July. Please take care, travel safely and may all of you be blessed. Happy camping

Dear NCTers:
As the winter winds down we look back with warm thoughts of a spectacular winter issue of “News to Campers”. I was
pleased to see so many Chapters, Districts, and individuals submit their greetings, especially when the hard copy that came in the
mail was in color too, just like the gonct.org website! I am already looking forward to next winter's issue.
We have weathered another winter up north. Family, medical, and business issues kept us in Boston, and we were fortunate
that it was a fairly mild one, as winters go. We missed being on the road, especially as we sat there reading the many Chapter news-
letters we got in the mail and on the website, describing the great campouts and lunches that were going on in the warmer weather
south of us. Wish we could have been with you all.
Now it is time, with the birds beginning to sing their spring songs, to look forward to another exciting camping season.
With this issue of “News to Campers” in hand, we can begin to make plans for where we head over the next 6 or 7 months, with the
intention of hitting as many Chapter, State, and District campouts as possible, and trying to squeeze in visits with friends along the
way, a family reunion, and a class reunion. As you make your camping plans let me encourage you to take a look at the schedule for
Chapters and Districts near you. It is great fun to visit other groups' campouts, and when you go to others you can personally invite
them to come to yours.
Let me suggest that as you travel, keep a copy of “News to Campers” handy. When you stop for the night, take a look to
see if there is a campout going on near you. And if you see a fellow camper that has a Masonic emblem on their vehicle, stop in and
tell them about NCT, show them the schedule of campouts for their area, and put an NCT brochure and application in their hand
(found on the NCT website or obtain from your Secretary). I passed some brochures and applications out at a Lodge meeting recent-
ly, and as a result our NCT Chapter has a new member. Have you told your Lodge members about NCT?
I continue to enjoy getting Chapter newsletters in the mail, as well as reading them on the website. If your Chapter's news-
letter isn't on gonct.org yet, have your Secretary send a pdf copy to Jim Jackson for posting. Pat and I look forward to seeing many
of you at the National Rally in Bowling Green in July. Happy and safe travels.

It is now winter across the country as I write this note. Of course winter has different meanings across this wide country of
ours. It is however, a time to rest. a time to pause and give thanks for all we have. Shortly (and as you read this) Spring will be
unfolding around us; A time to breath in the fresh breeze of the new beginnings that we are blessed to experience.
. With the new Spring before many of us will be thinking of that next trip that we will take. For some it will be to a familiar
campground to see familiar friends and loved ones that we have missed over the winter. For others it will be a trip to a new place, to
see new sights and have new experiences that we have on our bucket lists. No matter where you go, across the country or across
town, take a moment and give thanks for all that our creator has given us to experience. In the words of an old golfer: “As you
walk the fairway of life, take time to smell the roses for you only get to play one round.” Take time to enjoy our Lord’s marvelous
creation. Peace and safe travels.

By the time this is published, the bulk of winter will be behind us and some of you as snowbirds will be working your way
North. Please remember our upcoming District/State Rally in May. I realize many can not make because of distance, timeframe, ill-
ness and other reasons. However, if you can make it, please do. All good men and their Lovely Ladies are invited. Just inform us
with the forms and/or phone numbers in this magazine issue. We need this for planning. Our previous State Director, Ralph Mitchell
and his fine partner Carolyn is my Wagonmasters for this Rally and are doing all the work and planning. They graciously accepted
the assignment. I rapidly accepted, as they have always done such a great job in the past. Let’s support them as much as we can.
They are also high in the running for the May election of State Director and State Secretary/Treasurer. I will close now. As I have
always said, Masons and their Ladies are the best class of people and they always show it. See ya.
Bobby Lesesne.

ment. This an election year so a good turn out will be a be a benefit to all to express their choice of the officers chosen. Please
remember that your vote is the way to assure that State duties are taking the path YOU want. Blueberry hill is a very nice facility
with a pool , card rooms, a pool table, and horse shoe pits. There will be meals with the good cooks NCT has. Brother Ron Lupien
will cook one and of course there will be spaghetti one night. Please plan on attending and renewing friendships and making new
friends.

Plans are being finalized for the Ohio State Rally held June 7 – 10 at the Auglaize County Fairground in Wapakoneta, Ohio.
Our rally theme for 2012 is “Buckeye Beginnings”. Our founder, Myron Fox, was a resident of Brookville, Ohio, and a member of
the Southwestern Buckeyes, Chapter #1. We plan to look back to the early days of NCT and invite you to bring your history stories
and mementos to share. Rally activities include tours of area attractions, Bingo, Euchre, Ohio vs. Michigan (and friends) bean bag
baseball, entertainment, and raffles. We have an active YNCT so be sure to bring the kids and grandkids. Food includes early-bird
pizza on Wednesday for early arrivals, dinners on Thursday and Friday, a catered dinner (included in the rally fee) on Saturday, and
breakfasts served on Friday and Saturday. We’re looking forward to entertaining you at the 2012 Ohio State Rally. Come and join in
the fun and learn about our NCT “Buckeye Beginnings”. Rally registration form is included in this issue.

Our Pennsylvania State Director John Putnam and First Lady Barbara are looking forward to meeting all of you at the 40 th
Pennsylvania State Rally to be held the week of June 20 through June 24, 2012. The Rally Theme will be “BUILDING TOGETH-
ER.” In a letter to Pennsylvania NCT Chapters, our State Director suggested that we as NCT Campers invite other Masons and their
families who are campers to join our Pennsylvania Chapters and enjoy the same Masonic fellowship that we do.
Invite your Masonic camping friends to come to our State Rally with you, and your Chapter may have a new member before the
weekend is over. This is one way to support our 2012 Rally Theme.
The above named theme will be used for the Parade. The various Chapters and Rally Chairmen are already busy
making plans for our Rally, so we hope you will support them by camping with us at the Centre Hall Grange Fairgrounds.
We look forward to this annual event each summer to renew friendships and enjoy the fraternal fellowship. There should be a regis-
tration form in this issue, and our State Secretary/Registration Chairman Tina Krasnansky will be looking for your form. If you need
any additional information, please contact her at tlkras@ptd.net. We will have food, morning hospitalities, ice cream, door prizes,
bingo, pancakes, church services, youth program, entertainment and crafts.
Also, the 47th NCT North American Rally will be July 15-19, 2012 at Bowling Green, KY. The theme is “Rolling
On To Bowling Green.” State Director John is hoping that he will have a large contingent of Pennsylvania NCT rolling to
Kentucky. The location is great and from early indications this will be a great Rally.

Parents, Grand Parents and Great Grand Parents, We are starting up the PA YNCT once again. Last year at the PA State
Rally we had quite a few youngsters and thought we might try it again. So we are encouraging you to bring your youngsters. We will
be having an outing that might require you to attend if your youth are very young. Please have them bring their bicycles as we are
going to have a bike rally that will be put on by Emory Stiles. We will be doing some crafts, games and have a pizza party and their
own ice cream social, of course it will not be the same time as the adult ice cream social so they can enjoy both. We are looking for-
ward to having a great time. So please bring them along.

Wow! What a wonderful winter it has been so far in southern Minnesota. We only have about one inch of snow on the
ground. Last year at this time there was almost two feet. It’s hard to believe that by the middle of January I haven’t fired up my snow
blower yet.
Several of our members have become “snowbirds” or “Winter Texans”. The rest of us have been enjoying the very unsea-
sonable weather here in Minnesota and looking forward to our annual mid-winter gathering to talk about how we are enjoying the
weather. In only three more months we will have our Spring Camp-In where we welcome back the snowbirds and discuss the sum-
mer schedule. THINK SPRING!

Penn Beavers #84 closed the year with a Christmas Luncheon. Many current and past members attended, and we
enjoyed visiting with each other and the good food. At this gathering, we made plans for our 2012 Camping Season and many vol-
unteered to host the various campouts. Spring seemed a long way off, especially when we saw some snow that day, but it will be
here soon. Our MOT & Secretary, Paul & Nancy Reinhardt, and also our Wagonmaster, Jim Littell and Carolee, are snowbirding in
Fl. Joining them are the Petersons, Yosts, Minors, Kennedys, Halls, Kielmans and probably a few that I missed. Several of those
mentioned camped at the Masonic Youth Park, Wimauma, FL.
We were deeply saddened to learn of the passing in November of our friend & member Oates Allen. Oates had been a mem-
ber of our Chapter for many years. He attended campouts and State/National Rallies. He faithfully volunteered at the National Ral-
lies to drive the tractor trams which transported people to events. Oates will be missed by all his Beavers friends, and we extend our
deepest sympathy to his wife Janice and their family.

Well the Mississippi Magnolia’s started their year off with a dinner meeting in Hattiesburg, MS at the Farmer’s Market Buf-
fet restaurant. A good time was had by all and the food is wonderful. If you are ever in the area, try to stop in and have a meal. You
won’t regret it at all.
But the big news for the Magnolia’s is that we are going to host a “Friendship Rally” in October of 2012 in Vidalia. LA
which is just across the Mississippi river from Natchez, MS. One of the most historical cities in Mississippi. The rally is to be held
on Oct. 4th thru 6th of 2012. To see more about Natchez go visitnatchez.com on the web. We will have registration forms in the News
To Campers and if you wish you can email me at bettyngary@att.net and I can send you all the forms you want. We hope to see all
of you here and we are looking forward to this first friendship rally for the Mississippi Magnolia’s.

                                                    Virginia Cardinals #86
GREETING TO ALL NCT MEMBERS:
The Virginia Cardinals, NCT Chapter 86, are still going strong. Small in number but we have 6 to 8 units at each campout
if everyone’s health is up to going out. We had a camp out each month from April to October with a host family for each campout.
We also had two luncheon meetings one in March in Stephens City, VA and one in November in Culpepper, VA.
Our Wagon Master, Lew Roland, has all of our camp outs set up for 2012 with a host for all but two in Sept. and Oct. 2012.
We are unable to host the Apple Picking Rally in Sept anymore because the insurance was too costly. We did have that for a number
of years. We are too few in number and no campground large enough to hose a large rally. At one time we were able to work with
the Virginia Road Runners, NCT 19 and do the Bull Roast. As time went on and we got older we lost some members and we had to
change our schedule and outlook for camp outs.
The largest camp out for 86 was this past October when we did our Thanksgiving dinner. We Deep fried two 14 lb turkeys.
Almost all of the two turkeys were eaten. There were 18 people present. Everyone had plenty to eat and enjoyed fellowship with
one another. We are all looking forward to camping in 2012.
Fraternally,
Van Gillenwater, MOT, Chapter 86, NCT

This is my first attempt to contribute something to the National Newsletter, but after many years of your patience, your long
anticipation is at last rewarded! Among my fellow NCT’s, I’m about to answer the question, ‘What’s happening with the West Vir-
ginia Chapter? I know each of you look forward to our quarterly National NCT Newsletter as I do and scan each new issue for news,
but nothing from #200. Issue after issue, year after year nothing. Well here it goes!! .
With another successful year behind us which included campouts with 12 – 14 units present, our five unit caravan to the
Pennsylvania State Rally and our very very wet NCT State Rally held at Holly Gray Park in Flatwoods, WV. The highlight of which
was Friday night’s entertainment. Everyone who attended the rally participated in a dinner theater ‘Who Done It?’ (Who Killed
Bubba?). With all the rain we had, I know the rally brought flashbacks of the ‘flooded-rally’ a few years ago held in Middlebourne,
WV. I know this to be true because over the years and every time we have a light shower or heavy dew in the morning, someone
mentioned the flood at Middlebourne.
. Number 200 is looking forward on embarking on a new year
of Masonic fellowship, camping, and of course, lots of good food.
Along with our regular camp-ins and campouts, some of us are plan-
ning to attend the National Rally in Bowling Green, Kentucky in July.
In my short association with NCT, Janet and I have attended three Na-
tionals and words can’t express the enjoyment and wonderful memo-
ries we have from each. .
As January draws to a close, several of our members are representing
the club at their ‘winter abodes’ in Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and
Arizona. Some of us however are braving the winter right here in West
Virginia where the weather conditions, at times, has been far better than that being enjoyed by our fellow Pioneer Travelers in their
winter habitats. In fact, here it is January 22 nd and its 61-degree and sunny in Buckhannon, WV.

                                              Suwannee River Travelers Chapter #229
Our annual visit to the Christmas Concert at the Advent Christian Village in Dowling Park, FL in December was fantastic. This
musical event combines the choirs and musical talents of several area churches and is always a spectacular production.
Our January campout at the KOA in Lake Park, GA was well attended and everyone had a great time. The combination of fresh
seafood and hours of Mexican Train Dominoes seems to create a compatible blend for our group.
Our “Travel Schedule” for the remainder of 2012 is listed in the 2012 camping schedules, this issue.
Also, Suwannee River Travelers, in conjunction with Masonic RV Tours, is offering an RV tour to Nova Scotia in July and Au-
gust of 2012. This is a 25 day caravan that will begin on July 27 near Ellsworth, ME. Registration includes: Experienced wagon
master, camping fees; several meals; Lobster Boat Tour at Lunenburg; and guided tour of Fortress Louisbourg, The tour also in-
cludes visits to a tidal power generating plant, near Annapolis Royal (only one in North America), Halifax, Peggy’s Cove, Hopewell
Rocks on the Bay of Fundy, home of the greatest tidal extremes in the world. Tour takes ferry to Prince Edward Island and departs
by way of the Confederation Bridge (tolls included). Our 2009 Nova Scotia Tour visited several lodges, one OES Chapter and had
hundreds of shared memories. Contact information for the tour is:

Craft Fair and Flea Market at the National Rally in Bowling Green

The National Rally is fast approaching!!!! If you have not made plans to attend, fill out
the registration in this edition of News to Campers and mail it in. We'll see you in Kentucky!
I have been appointed by the National Rally Chairman, Julian Avery, to "head-up" the Craft Fair
and Flea Market. It's going to be different this year. Our goal is to have a Craft Fair and Flea Mar-
ket that includes everything from A to Z. Every category is welcome! You may want to bring
your finished craft for sell or you may want to bring kits and teach us to make your project. You
may want to bring your jellies, jams, green beans or baked goods to sell. You may want to bring
your woodworking projects to sell. You may want to bring your favorite books, puzzles, etc. You
get the picture, ALL projects are welcome!
Now, a successful Craft Fair and Flea Market is up to each of us. The more vendors we have, the more shopping we can
do, hey, maybe we can even get started on our Christmas shopping. Tell everybody that you might think will be interested in par-
ticipating in the Craft Fair and Flea Market to bring their projects with them to the Rally.
Remember, all categories are welcome. We will not be judging the projects or awarding prizes
because all of the crafts and flea market items are
                                                       THE BEST!

A LOOK AT THE PAST AND THE PRESENT
Bowling Green Kentucky is home to Western Kentucky University, the National Corvette Museum, and all sorts of other Bowling
Green attractions and Kentucky sights that will make for an interesting vacation and 47th National Rally!!
The Beech Bend Park and Splash Lagoon is one of the top Bowling Green attractions. The amusement park is located right
next to the Barren River and is filled with beautiful Beech trees. You will find a lively amusement park, a strip for drag racing, and
an enormous water park. Some of the rides and attractions at the amusement park are antique cars, a thrilling ride called the “shock
drop,” and a whimsical miniature golf course. There is even a petting zoo full of small friendly animals.
Splash Lagoon’s major attractions include three water slides and a huge children’s leisure pool to cool off during the warm
Kentucky summer. The park is very affordable, and children’s prices are significantly discounted.
For corvette lovers, the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green Kentucky is the place to go. This museum is dedicat-
ed to everything having to do with the famous convertibles and ranks among the top picks of Bowling Green attractions.
For the ultimate place to relax on Bowling Green vacations, spend some time in the downtown district of Bowling Green.
Eclectic shops and cafes can be found on every street corner. There are festivals going on downtown all year long. Antique enthusi-
asts will love taking a visit to Flea Land, Bowling Green’s largest indoor flea market. With 85,000 square feet of space occupied by
antique dealers, you may find the perfect antique souvenir.
Of course, no trip to Bowling Green would be complete without an underwater boat tour at the Lost River Cave and Valley.
The tour includes a historic walk through one of the largest cave entrances east of the Mississippi River. The river running through
the cave is believed to be the shortest and the deepest in the world. You can also learn about historical figures, such as Jesse James,
who once strolled through the cave.
Long before interstates, people visiting Bowling Green arrived at the L&N Passenger Depot constructed from Warren
County limestone. This 1925 structure has been restored and revived to house a two-story museum where visitors can learn the histo-
ry of the tracks by asking questions of a "real Railroader" through state-of-the art interactive galleries.
This area of Kentucky Green has many attractions for all the ages, in addition is Chaney Dairy Barn, close by is Mammoth
Cave, Dinosaur World & Guntown Mountain, there is plenty to see and do…..so pack a bag and we will be waiting on you!
