RIP-OFF No.1:
UNBELIEVABLY LOW PRICE.
To some degree, all of us are attracted by low price because we want to work within a
budget. But some window cleaners use price as the bait for their false and misleading
advertising. They offer a cheap price, usually between £10.00 and £22.00 per building -
and then, once they are inside, they pressure you into buying ‘add-ons.’ It’s as if you
were buying a car and found that the dealer was charging you extra for the tyres and
steering wheel. Window cleaning is not as cheap as some unethical window cleaners
would like you to believe.
RIP-OFF No.2:
Price for all the windows to be cleaned
Just because some of your windows are frosted, thats no reason not to clean them. Some
window cleaners think thats okay to leave frosted glass dirty, well, if you can't see in then
you can't see out ! We clean ALL glass and thats guaranteed.

'I should use the company that offers the lowest price'
NO. I'v seen so many problems arise from lowest bid companies that I suggest you

2) The price you may see advertised might not be the price you pay. Many business/
home owners have learned that the low price they saw advertised lasted only until the
window cleaner got into their building. Then they were pressured into paying a lot more
for a variety of add-ons. ( Some window cleaners even break the law by using illegal bait
and switch tactics)
2 COSTLY MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT

MISCONCEPTION No.1:
'Having the right equipment is all a company needs to clean my windows properly'
Not true. Many companies own ladders and the Reach & Wash System, but very few
companies teach their employees how to clean properly. Because of Health & Safety
legislation it is VERY IMPORTANT that you choose your window cleaners carefully.
The best window cleaning companies are those that have been trained by the National
Federation of Master Window Cleaners, are certified and have successfully completed
'WORKING SAFELY', a course approved and validated by The Institution of
Occupational Safety & Health. If they don't have them, don't use them!
MISCONCEPTION No.2 :
"Any honest window cleaning company should be able to give me a quote over the
phone"
I wish this were true, but it isn't.
Honest, reputable window cleaning companies almost never price window cleaning just
by the size of the building / bedrooms. Instead, professional window cleaning companies
will have to visit the site to see first hand what is involed. To give you an idea of how we
estimate the cost of cleaning, here are three other things we consider before we give you
the price.
First, the type of windows. Certain types of windows are harder to clean than other
types.
Second, the age of the windows and the amount of soiling. Windows that have not been
cleaned for ten years will take longer to clean than windows which were cleaned six
months ago.
Third, the amount of difficutly in reaching the windows, some windows are above
senitive areas, gardens etc.
So remember if you'd like me to tell you the exact cost of cleaning your windows, I need
to know the exact amount of work involed. Not as easy as some would make you believe
- is it ?
4 Mistakes to avoid when choosing a window cleaner
Mistake number 1.
All window cleaners are the same, one phone call is all it takes to get the job done?
Instead, invite the window cleaner to your premises or home and ask for a written
quotation. Then you'll know exactly what the window cleaner recommends, you won't be
the victim of high pressure tactics when the cleaner steps into your building.
Mistake number 2.
Choosing a window cleaner who doesn't offer a FULL MONEY BACK GUARANTEE.
In my view, every window cleaning company should be fully accountable for its work. If
you are not pleased with the job in every way, you should not have to pay for it. Period.
Not all window cleaners offer a guarantee, or if they do, the guarantee may be limited.
Ask the window cleaner if he offers a money-back guarantee and then make sure he
includes it in his quotation.
Mistake number 3.
Choosing a window cleaner without getting comments from his clients.
Any window cleaner can say anything about his past jobs. And sadly, some of what they
say may not be true. Make sure you ask for references or read comments from current
customers so you can depend on the window cleaner and his work.
Mistake number 4.
Choosing a window cleaner who is not a member of the National Federation of Master
Window Cleaners.
If your window cleaner is not a close friend, you may not know if he has the knowledge

Once you're satisfied that you're working with an honest, competent professional window
cleaner, invite him into your home and ask for a specific quotation in writing. A written
quotation gives you the assurance that you know exactly what your job will cost, no
surprises.
By following these four steps, you'll gain all the information you need to make an
