Global FX: You can set up the FX in VoiceWorks to be global. Everytime you change a preset the effects are unchanged Song Mode: Create a sequence of presets, roots and chords to match your arrangements and set list. The best way to use VoiceWorks’ pitch correction in a live situation is with MIDI. Using a sequencer create a track that sends down the CC messages to create a custom pitch correction scale. You can do this once in a song or send the custom scale down for the specific notes or sections in the arrangement that are difficult to sing in tune. You can also use the chromatic mode to nudge your vocals to the nearest semitone. The key to success with pitch correction live is for the singer to be able to monitor the pitch corrected results during performance. Yes, before VoiceWorks and Quintet all instant four part intelligent harmony devices didn’t offer a natural harmony sound. Hook up VoiceWorks or Quintet just as you would your current harmony processor, use the same arrangements and you will notice that the voices singing with you sound real and do not glitch! With VoiceWorks you also get new performance features like HarmonyHold™, Just and Equal-Tempered tuning, Delay that can sync to Tap or MIDI tempo and a quality Mic Pre only found on similar priced dedicated Mic Preamps. Which blocks in VoiceWorks can I use simultaneously? All processing blocks in VoiceWorks can be used simultaneously. That means you can add EQ, Compression, Pitch Correction, Thickening and Intelligent Harmony to the lead input as well as Reverb and Delay to your lead and Aux input. Why are there different tuning methods in VoiceWorks? There are different tuning modes in VoiceWorks so you can better emulate the tuning you’d hear from an instrument versus a group of singers singing a cappella. Instruments like pianos are typically tuned using Equal Tempered tuning. Equal Tempered tuning uses approximations for the tuning of each note, but the sound is slightly out of tune. When an a cappella group sings they base their tuning on the exact musical ratios between notes. This tuning is called Just tuning. Just tuning sounds more natural. Do the harmony voices sound natural even when you use MIDI? Yes, you can create natural sounding harmony voices even in MIDI mode. A complaint about other harmony processors is that the harmony didn’t sound natural - especially when MIDI Notes were used – because they are forcefully corrected to an absolute pitch. The sound has been compared to that of an accordion. With VoiceWorks’ Hybrid Shifting Algorithm and smoothing parameter, even MIDI Notes mode can sound natural enough to solo it in a mix. Is there VoiceModeling™ technology in VoiceWorks? VoiceWorks does not contain the VoiceModeling™ technology found in VoiceOne. However, they do share some of the humanizing technology. In VoiceWorks you can control the vibrato for each harmony voice. These vibrato are based on real singers. Additionally, a style can be assigned to the four harmony voices. The style randomizes, in a human way, the subtleties of a vocal performance such as pitch and time. These features help disconnect the lead input from the harmony voices. Important features for the Musician • • • Full MIDI Implementation Switch-3 configurable footswitch operation Four harmony modes to suit your arrangements Why do the harmonies sound better in VoiceWorks and Quintet than in VoicePrismPlus? VoicePrismPlus’ harmonies are generated using Formant Shifting and a standard pitch detection block. VoiceWorks generates harmonies based on the Hybrid Shifting algorithm and a Vocal-Trained pitch detection block. This means that sometimes pitch glitches or unnatural shifts can be heard with VoicePrismPlus whereas with VoiceWorks there are no glitches and the shifting can sound natural. The VoiceModeling™ technology in VoicePrismPlus does make use of the Voice -Trained pitch detection block. Introducing... Should I buy VoiceWorks or Quintet? If you want the most convincing harmony voices you will want full control over your harmony voicings, styles and vibratos that only come with VoiceWorks. Additionally, if you want to create a complete vocal sound including dynamics, pitch correction and effects then VoiceWorks is the product for you.
