                                           The Bunker Stampede 5K is back for
                                           its fifth year, and will be better than
                                           ever! Not only will you still be running in
                                           one of the most scenic parks in the north
                                           metro, but new this year, Anoka County Parks
                                           and Recreation will be teaming with Up Tempo Races
                                           to provide professional timing for the race. Another improvement
                                           will be an upgraded technical race t-shirt!

The Anoka County Parks & Recreation Department will again be
offering the popular introductory level kayaking class at a variety of
locations around the county. This is your chance to learn the basics
behind this fun and easy recreational activity. We will be using sea
kayaks to learn the basics of kayaking as we explore the lakes around
Wargo Nature Center, the Mississippi River at Coon Rapids Dam, and
the Rum River. Space is limited to 7 participants, so sign-up early.

                                                           Children from preschool through grade 5 are
                                                           invited to join the summer reading celebration at
                                                           Anoka County Library and Columbia Heights
                                                           Public Library. Bookawocky starts on June 1 and
                                                           continues through August 31.


                                                         To be part of this summer’s reading fun come
                to any Anoka County Library during June, July or August to register. You’ll receive a
                reading record and will be ready for a summer of great activities. Your goal - to
                read, just for the fun of it! Children who read a minimum of 5 hours during the
                summer will receive a free pass to Bunker Beach Water Park at Bunker Hills
                Regional Park. Water Park passes may be used after 4 pm from June 2 through
                Labor Day.




               TEENS                will enjoy reading for fun and taking part in the 11th annual
               bookmark design contest during summer reading. Receive a free pass to the
               Bunker Beach Water Park by reading a minimum of 5 hours during the summer.

               Teens are invited to volunteer at the library and should speak to library staff
