Tim
It’s hard to find words that explain what happened last Saturday but if I say that I think it may be the best day of my life so far then I hope you’ll get the idea. I’d counted on it being hard work and I had anticipated a great sense of achievement but what I hadn’t bargained for was the overwhelming amount of support we received all the way along the route. Every time I think back to the moment that I saw the crowd gathered at the finish line, my heart rate picks up and a huge grin spreads across my face. I was hurting as I came up that hill but the sight of so many people outside Thom’s house was such a thrill that it all disappeared. I might have cried if I wasn’t so dehydrated.

What a day! It was great to be back on the road with Tim having another foolish adventure, and amazing to spend the weekend with some many friends and family. Its almost comical to look back now on all the ups and downs of the last year – most of them spent in a swimming pool, on my own, trying to stay positive, trying to believe it could be done! And then it turned out to be easy! Swimming across to the Island was extra special for me too; I was going home! And knowing all my family were waiting for us on Ryde beach was a great boost! And the Finish! Coming over the hill and seeing so many people I care about standing in the road cheering and waving – its definitely one to tell the grandchildren! I did cry! But thankfully no one noticed – probably because I was grinning ear to ear! Tim tim@timtothom.com 07734 862 390 Thom thom@timtothom.com 07717 797 807 Web www.timtothom.com
