Job Title:            Database Programmer/Developer/Analyst

Salary :              YC 7 Points 1-3 £21,270 - £23,748 per annum

Hours:                37 hours per week Full Time - All year

Reporting to:         Head of College Iinformation Systems

Job Purpose:          To provide support in the development of information reporting to all
                      relevant users within and external to Yeovil College.

Key objectives:

    To develop and maintain information reporting to all levels within the organisation

    To design and enhance both new and existing reports and to ameliorate the disemination of

    To develop appropriate solutions for data storage and retrieval

    To provide assistance in respect of software support that is specifically related to the College
     Information Systems Network in respect of upgrades, version control and software installation.

    To support and facilitate the training of users in order that they are able to optimise the potential of
     information reported via the Information Systems Network

    To provide support in maximising the potential of the Student Record System and associated
     corporate databases.

    To be proactive in seeking to improve current systems’ functionality, efficacy and efficiency.

    To contribute, as an active and enthusiastic member of the Development team, to the planning,
     designing, coding, testing, documenting, training and distributing College software systems &

                       Expertise in the use, creation and            Experience in:
                       development of Relational databases.
                                                                     SQL programming,
                       Proven track record in Access report
                                                                     VB.NET and/or ASP.NET
                       writing, building complex queries and
                       form design.                                  Oracle database management.
                       Working in a Windows environment              Experience of working in the FE Sector
                       Report writing experience in software
                       such as MS Reporting Services.                Skills in general web application
                                                                     development such as AJAX/PHP
                       Knowledge and sound experience of
                       using higher level languages such as
                       within Visual Studio

                       Educated to Higher National level in          Educated to First Degree level
                       Computing or related qualification (or
                       comparable experience)                        Financial or business related
