Two Types of MSc


   Taught MSc (12 months)
     Predominantly lectures plus 3 month Project
     Exams, Essays, Short Thesis, Brief Oral
   Research MSc (12-15 months)
     Predominantly research few formal lectures
     Substantial thesis and Oral examination

What does a PhD involve?

  First year - 9 month assessment
     Write a report
     10 minute talk
     Half hour viva
  Second year assessment
  Third year talk – 30 min
  Thesis – approx 200-250 pages, 3 hr viva
