SIEMENS TO FEATURE SOARIAN IN HIMSS 2005 IHE INTEROPERABILITY
SHOWCASES
More Than 40 Siemens and Non-Siemens Applications Integrated With
Soarian To Date

   MALVERN, Pa., February 9, 2005 – As a leading proponent of the national
movement toward interoperable electronic health records (EHRs), Siemens
Medical Solutions will showcase the capabilities of Soarian® in supporting the
Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) cross-enterprise document sharing
profile by participating in the IHE Interoperability Showcases at the Healthcare
Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2005 Annual
Conference and Exhibition, to be held Feb. 13-17 in Dallas, Texas.
   Introduced in 2001 as Siemens’ new generation workflow-engineered health
information solution, Soarian continues to gain momentum and achieve
significant milestones in the marketplace. Among the highlights:
      To date, more than 200 Soarian products have been contracted for in the
       U.S.
      Siemens total Soarian customer base represents more than 240 U.S.
       healthcare facilities and 19 international sites.
      Thirty-six customers representing 67 facilities are now live on Soarian
       Clinical, Cardiology, Scheduling, Health Information Management (HIM)
       and Revenue Cycle solutions.
      Over 100 active Soarian implementations are currently underway.
      With implementation activity continuing to ramp up, Soarian has been
       integrated with more than 40 Siemens and non-Siemens applications and
       modalities, including demographics/ADT, orders, results and charges.

   Connecting clinicians using interoperable EHR products and standards so
that they can share patient data will be the focus of the Interoperability
Showcases at HIMSS. Conference attendees will be able to create and manage
their own virtual health record and then visit select vendor exhibit booths to
access their records and see how different companies incorporate IHE – and
thus interoperability – into their products
