                   Employees & Students Orientation
       Safety is the number one priority at Red Deer College

     A safe workplace is not a privilege but a right. People must be able to go to work
knowing that all measures have been taken to ensure their safety and that they are a part
of a wider fellowship of workers who take responsibility for one another’s well-being. We
  must all – corporations and individuals – work together to make safety a priority in all
                     areas of life. Safety is everyone’s responsibility.

                 10 Important Safety Points to Know!

   2. Refuse and report “unsafe work” (Alberta OHS legislation-Right to Refuse).

   3. Get to know the OHS sub-Committee members:

   4. Incident/Injury reporting
      i.) Report all incidents (including “Near Misses”) to the Health, Safety and Wellness
      Centre using the incident reporting form online, go to:

   5. Review Emergency Response procedures (including fire evacuation)

   6. Identify all hazards in your work area and report them to your supervisor. Go to

      i.) Resources for Employee Assistance, Counseling and Health (REACH Program) Is
      a service to provide avenues of support and financial assistance to RDC employees and
      their families in coping with personal or work-related problems.

   10. We Share the Air
       i.) Tobacco: smoking is prohibited within nine meters from all doorways, windows or
       air intakes.
       ii.) Perfumed Products: Scented products may cause health problems that can lead to
       lost productivity and increased costs to the affected individual, the organization that
       employs them, and the health care system. Avoid using scented products. This
