towards their tree planting programs. This gift is made
in honor of every family that Flanner and Buchanan
serves. These trees, symbols of hope, new life and
revitalization, will some day stand tall as living
memorials to your loved ones.
This donation is made to these two programs,
not towards a specific tree. A letter, recognizing this
donation, is sent to each family we serve.

Thanks for allowing us to serve you.
On behalf of the entire Flanner and Buchanan staff, we
thank you for the trust you have placed in us to handle your
cremation request.

                       Welcome
Flanner and Buchanan opened the first crematory in the state of Indiana in 1904.
Since then, we have led the way in informing and providing quality services to all
                       families.
While many funeral homes engage outside vendors for the actual cremation,
Flanner and Buchanan owns and operates its own crematory for the exclusive use
of their families. We invite you to tour our facility and learn about the many event
options and products that we have to offer. Our goal is to make your “celebration
of life” experience with us both memorable and meaningful.

Brian Buchanan As part of our service to your family, Flanner and Buchanan also offers its
popular “Gift of Life” tree planting program. This program makes a donation to the
4th Generation Owner Hoosier National Forest and Keep Indianapolis Beautiful so trees can be planted as
a living memorial to the deceased.
The cremation booklet will answer many of your questions about our services.

What is Cremation?

      Cremation is just one form
of preparing the body for final
disposition.
      Cremation does not take
the place of customary funeral
services. Funeral services are
the way we, the living, share
our grief, acknowledge the
contributions the deceased
has made to our lives, and
prepares us for going on with
life.
      What happens during a
cremation service is decided
entirely by the family. Families
are encouraged to customize
the service in ways that pay
special tribute to their loved
one. Choices include viewing
and visitation with open or
closed casket arrangements. A
memorial service or gathering
of remembrance can take
place with or without the urn
present.

Right Tribute
A life lived should be celebrated!

                             Cremation does not limit
                        your choices, but rather allows
                        more options.
                             If your family has chosen
                        a more traditional form of
                        burial in the past, cremation
need not be a conflict to your
                        personal choice.
                             A full service, with
                        cremation following, is quite
                        typical. Perhaps you have
                        thought of having your loved
one carried to the gravesite by
                        a horse-drawn caisson. That
                        wish can still be fulfilled.
                             No matter what type of
                        service you choose, family
traditions can be met and a
                        life lived can be celebrated.

We coordinate with all branches of the
