                                                                                           This Standard was prepared by the Joint Standards Australia/Standards New Zealand Committee QR/3
                                                                                           on Software Quality Assurance as an Australian Standard

                                                                                           The Standard is identical with, and has been reproduced from ANSI/IEEE 730.1 — 1989, IEEE Standard
                                                                                           for Software Quality Assurance Plans. It provides uniform requirements for the preparation of Software
                                                                                           Quality Assurance Plans (SQAPs).

                                                                                           Under the terms of the Active Corporation Agreement, this Standard is the result of a consensus among
                                                                                           Australian and New Zealand representatives on the Joint Committee to produce this document as an
                                                                                           Australian Standard.

                                                                                           The objective of this Standard is to provide guidance to software developers on the preparation and
                                                                                           content of Software Quality Assurance Plans (SQAPs) and to provide a basis for a degree of uniformity
                                                                                           in development and presentation, where appropriate. In deciding to make the internationally-recognized
                                                                                           ANSI/IEEE Standard available in Australia, the Committee noted that certain aspects of the Standard,
                                                                                           such as terms and definitions, are not completely consistent with local usage and practice. As a result

                                                                                           the Standard is intended for guidance or voluntary adoption, not for mandatory or rigid application.
