Free Videos by PACE Turf Offer Spring Aeration and Disease Information

Just in time for springtime, PACE Turf offers a trilogy of free videos that address topics
that are on the top of superintendents’ minds this time of year—compaction and fairy
ring.

In “Compaction Relief at La Jolla Country Club,” superintendent Dennis Fowler is
concerned about the compaction buildup on his greens. His solution--deep needle-tine
aeration--is shown. The video also demonstrates the dramatic difference between the
original compacted soils and the loosened, post-aeration soils.

Another springtime issue on the golf course is fairy ring, which gets top billing in two
videos, “Fairy Ring Symptoms” and “Fairy Ring Diagnosis.” Dr. Larry Stowell, director
of PACE Turf, shares the truth behind fairy ring, how to identify it and how to diagnosis
it, in the field and in the lab.

These exciting new offerings are available free of charge on YouTube. Like other PACE
Turf videos, they offer clear, yet brief explanations that are science-based, yet also
practical. “Our videos have been one of PACE Turf’s most popular member benefits,”
Dr. Stowell said. “We’re pleased we can share some of them with the turf management
community free of charge.

“In some agronomic situations, photos and videos truly are worth thousands of words,
and the videos allow us to communicate more quickly and effectively than any other
medium when it comes to disease diagnoses and demonstration of agronomic practices,”
Dr. Stowell said. “The videos are a great tool for refreshing your own knowledge, for
training your staff, and for communicating with your membership.”

The videos can also be placed on superintendent association websites or golf course
websites by clicking on the “embed” button that appears underneath the video on
YouTube. PACE Turf’s other golfer education and superintendent education videos can
be viewed on the PACE Turf YouTube Channel or
http://www.youtube.com/user/paceturf.
PACE Turf is a membership organization that provides breaking research news,
information and expert advice on its website www.paceturf.org. The mission of PACE
