Just a reminder that presentations start March 7th. Your presentations should be about 15 mins
long. You will be marked based on clarity, content, presentation style, and knowledge of your
topic. Here are some tips…
Try not to be nervous. Everyone watching is hoping that you do well, so don’t be intimidated.
Make your slides as interesting as possible. Don’t be afraid to take photos off the internet to add
to your presentation.
Don’t try to think about what you need to say next, think about what you’re saying now. When
you try to think ahead you don’t monitor what you’re saying and you can make mistakes.
Practice as much as possible. Go through your presentation so that you feel confident. Also, by
practicing, you’ll figure out which slides are difficult and how you can handle that difficulty.
Don’t panic if you can’t answer a question. It happens to professors all the time. It’s not a
mortal sin to say “I don’t know” or “I’m not sure.” Also, you will know more on these topics
than the rest of us, so be confident.
For the rest of you, pay attention and enjoy watching the presentations. Half of your
participation mark will be awarded based on your ability to come up with thoughtful questions.
Also, be reasonable and considerate. Don’t ask questions that are impossible to answer.
Best of Luck
