DePuy Recall Patients Fight for Proper Compensation Goes On

Bremerton, Washington - The controversial DePuy recall
on its two hip replacement devices has brought both
shock and fear to people who have been implanted by
the device. The recall, which has affected about 93,000
people all over the world, was due to the high failure
rate of both products, which falls at about 12 to 13
                                         percent.

The recalled hip replacement devices, DePuy ASR XL
Acetabular System and DePuy ASR Hip Resurfacing
System, have both exceeded the ten percent failure
mark. It was also reported that about 1 out of every
eight person who has been implanted by the recalled
hip replacements would need to undergo revision
surgeries after just five years, which is fairly high than the
usual 15 year revision rate.

Undergoing a revision surgery means that the defective hip replacement inside the body of the
patient would be removed and another device would be implanted. Undergoing revision
surgeries, aside from being a financial burden in itself also poses a lot of health risks to the
patient.

A revision surgery is a major surgery, which means that a person who would undergo it would
need to be under general anesthetic and an incision of about 8 to 10 inches. Also, this
procedure takes a longer time to finish since it would basically include two tasks, the removal of
the existing device and the implant of another device.

A lot of risks and damage would be part of undergoing a revision surgery, and some patients are
aware of that, which is why despite DePuy’s offer to help them with the expenses of the medical
procedures they need to undergo regarding the recall, they still decided to file DePuy Hip recall
class action against the company.

Some patients believe that with all the damage, pain, financial problems and troubles that the
defective device has caused them, they certainly deserve more than what the company offers
them. With the help of their expert Hip Recall lawyers, they can file the lawsuits and stand a
good chance of getting the right compensation that they deserve from the manufacturing
company of the device that caused all their troubles.

A lot of patients have already filed lawsuits against the company, and some of them have
already obtained the compensation that they deserve. Still, there are some patients who are still
on their battle of getting the proper compensation with the help of hip lawyers.
