WHERE YOU SEE THIS PURPLE, IT IS TEXT YOU SHOULD ERASE IN YOUR
FINAL PAPER.

In this section, you will include:

 A short description of who you are (name, major, where you
will student teach if you know, and other information that
will help us know about you as a learner and professional)

 Your digital picture from earlier in the semester

You don't need to fill each page. Use only as much space as you
need to cover the required elements. What you decide you need to
cover the requirements may be shorter or longer than a single
page.

NETS FOR TEACHERS STANDARDS NARRATIVE

I. TECHNOLOGY OPERATIONS AND CONCEPTS.
Teachers demonstrate a sound understanding of technology operations and concepts.
Teachers:
     A. demonstrate introductory knowledge, skills, and understanding of concepts
related to technology (as described in the ISTE National Education Technology
     Standards for Students)
     B. demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay
abreast of current and emerging technologies.

For each of the standards, you will give a brief explanation of
what you know about this, and how you are accomplishing it.
This will be followed by your list of what materials you
produced that demonstrate this (for example: Newsletter, Concept
Map, Gradebook etc.)

You may find it useful to go back to the ISTE list of
proficiencies (http://cnets.iste.org/teachers/t_profile-
pro.html) that you should have at the end of your professional
preparation but before your student teaching to help you
consider what you need to show.

WHAT I DID TO ACCOMPLISH THIS:

LIST OF INCLUDED EXHIBITS THAT SUPPORT MY NARRATIVE:

What might support this standard: general skills self-assessment
(you could show you improved your skills or your already have
the basics solidly down); you could show that you know how to
find resources on the Internet to help you learn technology; you
can show in your exhibits that you demonstrated how to use a
variety of technologies by actually producing a product; you
might describe how you read publications on teaching that
include articles about using technology, you may talk about your
plans to learn more in your student teaching and beyond.

II. PLANNING AND DESIGNING LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS AND
EXPERIENCES.
Teachers plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported
by technology. Teachers:
       A. design developmentally appropriate learning opportunities that apply
technology-enhanced instructional strategies to support the diverse needs of
       learners.
       B. apply current research on teaching and learning with technology when
       planning learning environments and experiences.
       C. identify and locate technology resources and evaluate them for accuracy and
       suitability.
       D. plan for the management of technology resources within the context of
       learning activities.
       E. plan strategies to manage student learning in a technology-enhanced
       environment.

WHAT I DID TO ACCOMPLISH THIS:

LIST OF INCLUDED EXHIBITS THAT SUPPORT MY NARRATIVE:

What might support this standard: in this part, you need to show
that you know about setting up your teaching. Creating lessons,
searching for resources so you know more about a subject or can
show them to your class; understanding how to find technology
resources in your school to use in your student teaching; know
how to choose technologies that help your students learn;
knowing what makes for more powerful learning with technology;
typically this would contain unit and lesson plans that show you
understand multiple ways to use technology.

You can talk about discussions or in-class activities that
support your learning as well as the actual products you produce
in the class. You may also supplement the work from this class
by describing things you did in other classes (but don't add any
files except the required ones for this class!)

III. TEACHING, LEARNING, AND THE CURRICULUM.
Teachers implement curriculum plans, that include methods and strategies for applying
technology to maximize student learning. Teachers:
      A. facilitate technology-enhanced experiences that address content standards
      and student technology standards.
      B. use technology to support learner-centered strategies that address the diverse
      needs of students.
      C. apply technology to develop students' higher order skills and creativity.
      D. manage student learning activities in a technology-enhanced environment.

WHAT I DID TO ACCOMPLISH THIS:

LIST OF INCLUDED EXHIBITS THAT SUPPORT MY NARRATIVE:

What you might use to meet this standard: This one is harder
because at this point in your program, you haven't actually had
to teach a lesson that uses technology. But you can show you
understand the ideas in this standard through lesson plans,
examples of ways you plan to have your students use technology
for critical thinking, ability to show you can use many
different technologies to address your unit topic area.

IV. ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION.
Teachers apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation
strategies. Teachers:
       A. apply technology in assessing student learning of subject matter using a
       variety of assessment techniques.
       B. use technology resources to collect and analyze data, interpret results, and
communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student
       learning.
       C. apply multiple methods of evaluation to determine students' appropriate use of
technology resources for learning, communication, and productivity.

WHAT I DID TO ACCOMPLISH THIS:

You have done several activities directly related to assessment,
and had to include assessment in your lesson plan. You also have
to assess resources You learned about some resources for
assessment.

V. PRODUCTIVITY AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE.
Teachers use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practice.
Teachers:
     A. use technology resources to engage in ongoing professional development
     and lifelong learning.
     B. continually evaluate and reflect on professional practice to make informed
decisions regarding the use of technology in support of student learning.
     C. apply technology to increase productivity.
     D. use technology to communicate and collaborate with peers, parents, and the
larger community in order to nurture student learning.

WHAT I DID TO ACCOMPLISH THIS:

This is likely to be a standard that has more participation in
discussion than actual products. When you read about what others
do to learn yourself, you accomplish part of this one. When you
learn new skills, you accomplish this one. When you put together
resources for parents you have something to list in the
exhibits. Note that the portfolio itself is part of what shows
this because of the reflections you included here.

VI. SOCIAL, ETHICAL, LEGAL, AND HUMAN ISSUES.
Teachers understand the social, ethical, legal, and human issues surrounding the use of
technology in PK-12 schools and apply those principles in practice. Teachers:
      A. model and teach legal and ethical practice related to technology use.
      B. apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse
      backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities.
      C. identify and use technology resources that affirm diversity
      D. promote safe and healthy use of technology resources.
      E. facilitate equitable access to technology resources for all students.

HOW I ACCOMPLISHED THIS:

LIST OF INCLUDED EXHIBITS THAT SUPPORT MY NARRATIVE:

You may not have many exhibits related to this standard, but can
talk about discussions you participated in or readings you did
that apply. Consider whether you have used these concepts in
your lesson designs. For example, if you asked your students to
use Internet information or graphics, did you think to include
something on plagiarism and copyright?

This is an easy part. Just check off the assignments that are
included in the electronic folder that you are handing in and
the filenames. The column on "standards this applies to" only
needs to have the number. The column is an easy way to keep
track during the semester of how your learning meets particular
requirements. Of course, almost every assignment meets many
standards: for example, most show technical proficiency and
apply to I. When you design a lesson, it usually includes design
(II), teaching (III) and assessment (IV) – I've included some
examples but take any out if you didn't do that assignment.

SUMMARY REFLECTION

What I've learned

What I still need to accomplish

What is important if I am going to use technology successfully in my
student teaching

The reflection section is the place to provide a short narrative
about what went well and what you still may need to accomplish.
It is a place to consider what you will need to do to
successfully use technology in your student teaching. This is a
key element in showing your understanding of teaching with
technology. Keep this section short.

BE SURE TO CHECK SPELLING AND PROOFREAD CAREFULLY.
