Report of SCGBA AGM held on February 6th 2012
Held at Reman Services Bowling Club

The meeting opened with the usual one minutes silence in memory of loved ones and
friends who have passed away during the previous year

The apologies then followed by the presentation of various reports, most of which had
been enclosed along with the Agenda:

their help during the last 12months and then went on to thank various Clubs, Teams
and many Individuals for their hosting of and competing in the numerous
competitions and all those who helped in any whatever way. Finally, wishing
incoming President Geoff Balshaw every success during his term of office.

The Secretary’s report, Mo Corley, thanked the League’s sponsors Osprey for their
support of the County Team and for agreeing to continue this year, also Darwin’s
Wealth Management and the Shropshire Star.
The Shropshire Star unfortunately will not be sponsoring this years Senior
Interleague.

and made special note of the fact that Isobel and Peter Jones retired at the Whitchurch

She thanked President George Edge for his year in office and wished incoming
President Geoff Balshaw every success. Finally, reminding us that 2012 is Shropshire
Bowling’s centenary year.

The Financial report, Treasurer Brian Kitson reported a small loss on the years
activities, the high cost transport for both senior and junior teams was the greatest
drain on the county’s resources, but with progress to the latter stages of their
respective competitions it was felt vitally important to continue with support. He also
thanked the sponsors for their continued support. The SCGBA website would help to
keep cost down and urged clubs and secretaries to use the site to reduce costs and
improve efficiency.
Insurance, The BCGBA scheme, administered by the county, was to be unchanged for
2012, £2m Public Liability would cost £38, £5m Public Liability £45, Personal
Accident @ 90p per player and abuse cover @£4.25. Clubs must take out Public
Liability cover and if not taking advantage of the BCGBA scheme they MUST
provide the county with evidence that they hold such cover. He urged all clubs to take
out the personal accident cover as this includes both own away greens and also whilst
travelling to games. Other insurance providers do not always offer this very important
aspect of the cover.

The Registrar’s Report, Brian Kitson said that a total of 313 new BCGBA cards had
been issued in Shropshire within the last twelve months, following the BCGBA
meeting the cost for these cards would remain at £6 and £3 for a replacement.

their cooperation during the season, special thanks to Severnside BC, Wem BC and

must accept greater responsibility in finding pupils of all ages. In the north of the
county he would like to see 3 County players active in coaching.
