Write Site
The Write Site is hiring writing consultants to begin in the spring 2011 semester.
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide writing tutorial support to TWU students, faculty and staff, and other duties as
assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conduct individual tutoring sessions with students, faculty and staff on a walk-in or
appointment basis;
Improve students’ writing skills and their ability to identify and correct their own writing
problems;
Conduct all work in a professional manner;
Assist with Write Site record-keeping;
Create and update Write Site publications as directed;
Support compliance with TWU policies governing copyright, fair use, ethics and plagiarism;
Assist students, faculty and staff in utilizing resources and accessing assistance as needed
from appropriate offices.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent oral and written communication skills;
Knowledge of the writing process, organizational strategies, audience awareness, grammar,
usage, and documentation formats (MLA/APA citation formats, etc.);
Ability to establish rapport with learners and colleagues;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Flexibility in scheduling work hours;
Graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in TWU classes.
Preference may be given to bilingual (English/Spanish) applicants or those with experience
writing in the health sciences.
PAY/BENEFITS:
Schedule work hours around your classes;
Base salary of $8 per hour;
Salary increase after one semester of service;
