Developing effective child care plans – a solution focused
approach




Target group

Social work staff that are responsible for developing child care plans


Aim

This one day course will introduce participants to the principles of solutions focused
approaches and the signs of safety model. It will assist them to develop plans that
examine family strengths, while ensuring that agreed outcomes focus on the child's
safety and needs.


Outcomes

By the end of the day participants will be able to:

       describe the principles underpinning solution focused approaches
       work with service users to identify shared goals
       develop plans that specify clear outcomes for the wellbeing and safety of the
        child
