					                    The Message!

                 Pastor Timothy J. Hinkle
                    October 26, 2008
“Special Thanks to my friend, Bishop Charles E. Blake. Much of today’s
message was taken from his book, Encountering God.”
The New Testament Message
The message to the New Testament Believer is:
1. Understand that you have been washed, and if God
washed you, it’s because He wants you clean…
2. If you fall down, don’t just lie there; get up and move
    on
3. Remember the importance of your spirit and your soul.
Your body will return to dust, but your spirit will live on
    forever.
4. Remember who you are and whose you are:
5. Remember the promises God has made to you
6. If you can get close to God, He will lead you and guide
    you.
7. If you want to be clean, focus your mind on clean
things, holy things, on good things:
8. Be baptized in and filled with the Holy Spirit and get
the power of God working in your life:
Understand that you have been
washed…
1. Understand that you have been washed,
and if God washed you, it’s because He
wants you clean. If He had wanted you
dirty, He would not have wahed you in
the first place. So don’t jump into every
mud puddle you pass. You’ve been
washed. Make every effort to stay clean!
2 Peter 2:20-22
20 For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the
world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and
overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the
beginning. 21 For it would have been better for them not
to have known the way of righteousness, than having
known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered
to them. 22 But it has happened to them according to the
true proverb: “A dog returns to his own vomit,”[a] and, “a
sow, having washed, to her wallowing in the mire.”
If you fall down, don’t just lie
there; get up and move on
 1 John 1:9 (New King James Version)
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to
forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all
        unrighteousness.
 You CAN get back up! God has also promised
    to “keep you from falling”
 Jude 1:24 (New King James Version)
 24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from
stumbling, And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
If you fall down, don’t just lie
there; get up and move on
 Our God “is able to keep you from falling, “
so get up and go on. He is able “to
present you faultless before the presence
of His glory,” so get up and go on.
Remember the importance of your
spirit and your soul.
 Remember the importance of your spirit
and your soul. Your body will return to
dust, but your spirit will live on forever:
 Matthew 10:28 (New King James
  Version)
 28And do not fear those who kill the body but
cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is
able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Remember the importance of your
spirit and your soul.
 Your body (your flesh) tell us you many things,
but you need to have a little talk with it and
remind it that it is just here for a few years, but
you’re here for eternity. It will return to the dust,
decay, and become rotten, but you will live on
forever somewhere and will have to stand before
God and give an account of the deeds done in
    the flesh
Remember the importance of your
spirit and your soul.
 Romans 4:12 (New King James Version)
 12 and the father of circumcision to those who not
only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the
steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while
      still uncircumcised.

Hebrews 4:13 (New King James Version)
 13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but
all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to
      whom we must give account.
Remember the importance of your
spirit and your soul.
 Tell your flesh that you REFUSE to let it
ruin your chances at eternity. Say, “Flesh,
we are going to live for God and walk in
His ways,” and then enforce that
    determination.
Remember who you are and whose
you are:
 1 Peter 2:9 (New King James Version)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation, His own special
people, that you may proclaim the praises of
Him who called you out of darkness into His
     marvelous light;
Remember who you are and whose
you are:
 I am a child of the King, and I’m a priest of
the most high God, so I can’t walk like
others walk, and I can’t live like others live.
I also can’t dress like others dress. My life
has to be different, because I must be
pleasing in the eyes of Almighty God
Remember the promises God has
made to you:
 Never forget those promises made to
Israel (and subsequently to you), that you
would be the head and not the tail
(meaning that you would be on the top, not
the bottom), that you would lend and not
borrow, that all nations would rise up and
    call you blessed. Paul wrote:
Remember the promises God has
made to you:
 2 Corinthians 7:1 (New King James Version)
 1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us
cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and
spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
 Child of God, when I think of the agenda God
has in mind for me, it makes me want to get on
the path that leads to my blessing, the path that
    leads to my prosperity!
If you can get close to God, He will
lead you and guide you.
 If you can get close to God, He will lead
you and guide you. If you can get close to
Him, His holiness and righteousness will
    rub off on you.
If you can get close to God, He will
lead you and guide you.
 James 4:8-10 (New King James
    Version)
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to
you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and
purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9
Lament and mourn and weep! Let your
laughter be turned to mourning and your joy
to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight
of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
If you can get close to God, He will
lead you and guide you.
 John 15:3-4 (New King James Version)
3 You are already clean because of the word
which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me,
and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit
of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither
can you, unless you abide in Me.
If you want to be clean, focus your mind on
clean things, on holy things, on good things:
 Philippians 4:8-9 (New King James Version)
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever
things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever
things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever
things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if
there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these
things. 9 The things which you learned and received
and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of
      peace will be with you.
If you want to be clean, focus your mind on
clean things, on holy things, on good things:

 “Meditate on these things.” Tell others,
including your own flesh, that you refuse to
think about what they want you to think
about. Focus your mind on God, and
    meditate on His Word.
If you want to be clean, focus your mind on
clean things, on holy things, on good things:

 Psalm 119:105 (New King James
    Version)
 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path
Be baptized in and filled with the Holy Spirit and
get the power of God working in your life.

 Acts 1:8 (New King James Version)
8 But you shall receive power when the Holy
Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be
witnesses to Me[a] in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the
     earth.”
 Jude 1:20 (New King James Version)
 20But you, beloved, building yourselves up
on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy
     Spirit,
Be baptized in and filled with the Holy Spirit and
get the power of God working in your life.

 I’m sure that your intentions are good, but you
need the power of God to help you do what you
mean to do, to help you do what you know is
right to do, to help you keep your resolve and
keep your commitments to God. There is
nothing quite like having Holy Ghost power on
the inside of you. It is power to do the will of
God, power to walk in His ways!

 You’re not able, but HE IS ABLE to Keep you
and give you the HOPE OF GLORY!
