Where LAMS is heading… • Now – Preview & Survey • Rest of 2005 – Open Source Release – Tools Interface – Public feature suggestion and prioritisation process – Branching/Grouping – Wizard – Instant Messaging – VLE integration (Bodington, Moodle, WebCT, Blackboard, etc) – “Portfolio Export” – LAMS Community/Sharing Website – Look and Feel – Rich Text Editor but…..FUNDING! – Offline text editing once sequence structure in place Preview now complete – will be available within the next week or so Runs a session as a single learner No more “Copy of”/Locking problem NB: Still need to walk through each step of the sequence – cannot jump ahead (will be available later this year) 3 Screenshots follow – showing (1) new button, (2) launching preview in monitor, and (3) preview showing learner view Preview in action – learner view Survey tool now complete – will be available within the next week or so Will be set up with a default set of questions to help with student evaluation for the JISC trial Can also be used for general surveys 2 screenshots follow – showing (1) Authoring view of Survey tool (2) Learner view of Survey tool (JISC text) NB: Monitor view of Survey tool output not shown Open Source Release – Feb 25, 2005 Will involve release of V1.0 (current LAMS) Will also release current development of V1.1 – major internal changes, UI fewer changes Tools Interface to assist tools development All of system will be “viewable” – authoring, run-time engine, tools and sequence format (“LAMS XML”) Import/export for IMS LD Level A in July, 05 Tools Interface document describing how to build Learning Design activity tools to run in LAMS Key element of OSS approach NB: Draft!
