							                                 2011 Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA)
                                         Camp Application Guidelines
                                           Application Deadline: April 15, 2011


Thank you for your interest in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards Camp (RYLA). The Bozeman
Sunrise Club in cooperation with the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club will be sponsoring four students to
attend the 2011 RYLA Camp to be held July 12-16, 2011 at Luccock Camp south of Livingston, MT.
The Sunrise and Noon Rotary Clubs will provide a $250 scholarship covering the camp fees/expenses
for each of the four students selected from the applicant pool.

Applicants who exemplify strong leadership skills or potential are selected by Rotary clubs from
throughout Montana to attend a weekend leadership conference. The conference consists of
presentations by outstanding motivational speakers, leadership activities and discussion groups
directed by adult Rotarian facilitators. A detailed description of the RYLA program is provided at:

All candidates must have:
     Leadership experience or potential, as demonstrated by active participation in youth groups,
       student government activities, athletics, and/or community involvement.
     Superior citizenship and GPA of 2.0 or better.
     Ability to contribute / communicate as a member of a group.

An application form is enclosed. Please fill out the application form and prepare a two-three page essay
answering the following questions:

1.     How would you define leadership?
2.     What makes a good leader?
3.     Give an example of a good leader whom you admire and describe why you admire this
       individual?
4.     Describe your leadership experience and your specific efforts to be a good leader.
5.     What are some of your short tem and long-term goals?

Mail the completed application and essay to Bruce Raymond at the address below by the deadline,
April 15, 2011. The RYLA selection committee will review the applications and select two
individuals to attend the camp. Detailed information regarding the camp along with medical release
forms will be mailed to each of the successful candidates.
