What is a Management Information System?
Textbook Definition is:-

 “A system that converts data from internal and external sources into
information and communicates this information in an appropriate form, to
managers at all levels in all functions, to enable them to make timely and
effective decisions for planning, directing and controlling the activities for
which they are responsible.”

What is Sims .net?
SIMS .net is a Management Information System (MIS) designed specifically
for schools to utilise the data stored within it as effectively as possible; to
support their continued progress and drive whole-school improvement.

98% of schools in Hertfordshire use Sims. net.

Who can access Sims .net?
Any member of staff who has been given access rights by the System
Manager.

Will everyone be able to see and enter data?
This is dependant upon the access rights given by the System Manger which
can limit what each person can edit, enter and see – read only is possible.

Can Sims .net be installed on a laptop or another machine away
from the office?
Yes and you do not need another licence. What you will need is to have
Sims .net networked.

How much does networking cost?
If your school has a support contract with SITSS then the charge is £117.00
for the first hour and £58.50 thereafter. Dependant upon complexity of the
installation it is possible to have two machines networked to the Master
machine in an hour.

If your support contract is with a third party then you will have to ask them for
a quotation. Please ensure that they speak to Stephen Cutts to ensure that it
is installed to the SITSS required location and specification.

What are the advantages of using Senco.net?
   The childs record is comprehensive and can be viewed by anyone who
    has access rights. These can be tailored to school needs.
   The Overview Panel enables at a glance Reviews, Events and Provisions
    that have been provided for the child.
   IEP’s and other County Standard Forms can be generated and populated
    with data held within Sims .net, thus reducing the necessity to type UPN’s,
    Ethnicity, Address etc.
   All documents received or generated for the child can be uploaded to their
    record.
   There are ‘free text areas’ which enable notes to be made directly onto the
    childs record.
   Adults can be linked, be it parents, teacher or someone from an external
    agency can be attached and if invited to a review the letters generated at
    the click of a button.
   Messages can be sent to other members of staff.
   School Census which is now run termly requires SEN information. This is
    statutory – save admin time a record just once in Sims .net.


Training?
A one day training course is available. This is a relaxed paced course as
many delegates have never used Sims .net. The cost is £170 for the first
delegate and £85 for the second. Full details of the course, dates and the
