Introduction to Oracle BPM Suite and Process Spaces

Oracle Business Process Management Suite, is a complete set of tools for creating, executing, and
optimizing business processes. The suite enables unparalleled collaboration between business and IT to
automate and optimize business processes

The Oracle BPM Suite provides an integrated environment for developing, administering, and using
business applications centered around business processes.

Process Spaces
Oracle BPM Suite includes out-of-box collaborative spaces built on top of Oracle WebCenter Spaces
that provides business analysts, process modellers, process workers, and other process participants a
social and collaborative interface to BPM. (Note – Process Spaces is an optional component and Process
Workspace is available standalone as well.)

Installing Oracle BPM Process Spaces

Introduction
This chapter provides the instructions for installing and configuring Oracle BPM Process Spaces
(11.1.1.5.0), released in May 2011. It does not describe installing SOA/BPM. You can refer the quickstart
guide to install SOA/BPM (Reference)
This guide is directed for installing process spaces when the SOA/BPM are installed on separate
domain from WebCenter & UCM. Section “BPM and WebCenter in Same Domain” will cover details on
configuration when these products are in same domain.

What You Will Need and Where to Get It
Before you can begin the installation, you need to check your machine, download installation files,
and check your database, browser, and JDK versions. Follow the instructions in this section carefully for
a successful install.

Prerequisite

                                 Database WebLogic Server

                             Webcenter Process Spaces
                                          UCM

Quick Start Guide for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5
Installation
Now you have all of the files required for the installation of SOA Suite 11.1.1.5.0, except possibly the
database. The first step is to confirm your database installation and install a database if necessary.

Install the database

                                  Database WebLogic Server

                              Webcenter Process Spaces
                                           UCM

Determine which database version you have already, if any, and then decide which database version
you will use for your SOA installation.
Oracle Database is the recommended database for SOA Suite deployments.
Oracle Express Edition (XE) 10.2.0.1 does not meet the minimum version requirement for
supported use, but will generally work in a personal development environment.
    You need one of
 XE Universal or Standard database version 10.2.0.1, or
 Oracle 10g database version 10.2.0.4+ or
 Oracle 11g database version 11.1.0.7+ or 11.2.0.1+

You may see problems with installing XE when you already have 10g installed on Windows. The
Windows registry sometimes gets the database file locations confused. If you need to uninstall a
database, you should follow the instructions.
 If you need to uninstall XE, be sure to follow these instructions
o Oracle Database Express Edition Installation Guide
         o 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows
o Part Number B25143-03, Section 7 Deinstalling Oracle Database XE

 If you need to uninstall 10.2, be sure to follow these instructions
        o Oracle Database Installation Guide
        o 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Microsoft Windows (32-Bit)
o Part Number B14316-04, Section 6 Removing Oracle Database Software

 If needed, install OracleXEUniv.exe (or OracleXE.exe)

Quick Start Guide for BPM 11.1.1.5 Process Spaces Installation
When you are using Oracle XE, you must update database parameters if you have never done this
for your database installation. You only have to do this once after installing. Set the processes
parameter to >=300 as follows.
The shutdown command can take a few minutes. Sometimes the shutdown/startup command fails.
In that case, simply restart the XE service in the Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services dialog after
setting your parameters.

        sqlplus sys/welcome1@XE as sysdba
        SQL> show parameter session
        SQL> show parameter processes
        SQL> alter system reset sessions scope=spfile sid='*';
        SQL> alter system set processes=300 scope=spfile;
        SQL> shutdown immediate
        SQL> startup
        SQL> show parameter session
        SQL> show parameter processes

Quick Start Guide for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5
Install WebLogic server

                                 Database WebLogic Server

                                          UCM

Once your database is ready, you can install the next step, the WebLogic server.
If you have installed SOA 11g before and want to install again in the same location, you must
uninstall the previous one first. See the section at the end of this document on uninstalling.
You can choose whether to install WebLogic Server without OEPE, or to install the version that
includes OEPE, depending on your use case.
When you are ready to install, complete the following.
Open a command window and enter
     cd /stageFMW
     ./wls1035_linux32.bin

Install database schema using RCU

Now it is time to set up the database schema.
If you have installed SOA 11g before and you are not upgrading, you must drop your existing
database schema before reinstalling or create a second schema for this installation. You cannot reuse
an existing schema. See the section in this document on uninstalling to drop an existing schema. After
you drop the existing schema, come back here to configure the new schema.
    VERY IMPORTANT NOTE!!!!!!!
If you are using Oracle XE as your database, you need to set the RCU_JDBC_TRIM_BLOCKS
environment variable to TRUE prior to running RCU.
   set RCU_JDBC_TRIM_BLOCKS=TRUE
echo %RCU_JDBC_TRIM_BLOCKS%
If you don’t do this, you will run into problems that you might only realize when you start your
implementation.

Configure Schema

Now create the new schema. Open a command window and enter the following.
         cd //stageFMW/RCU/rcuHome/BIN
    ./rcu.sh

Quick Start Guide for SOA Suite 11.1.1.5
 If you are using XE, you will see one or two warnings when you install the schema that this
version is too old and is using the wrong character set.

You can safely ignore these warnings for your evaluation installation. If you wish to use extended
character sets you must use XE Universal.
 The pre-requisites are reviewed.
 When complete, click OK. The utility moves to the next page – with a slight delay, just wait for
    it.

 If you choose to select other components, these install instructions may not match your
experience. Also, you may have to increase processes in XE (you will get a message telling you
     what is required).

Starting and stopping servers

Follow these instructions to start and stop your servers.
Before starting the servers for the first time, exit all unnecessary programs on your machine
including JDeveloper. After the first time, the server startup memory requirements are slightly lower.

Starting servers

 In the following section, %DOMAIN_HOME% will be referenced for the root directory of
    your domain, e.g. \Middleware\SOASuite11gR1PS4\user_projects\WCDomain
            cd %DOMAIN_HOME%\bin
            ./startWebLogic.sh
 Wait for the Admin Server to finish starting up. It takes a few minutes – watch for status
“RUNNING” in log console window and for the message that the “SOA Platform is running and
    accepting requests”

 When needed, start the Other Managed Server in a second command window

             cd %DOMAIN_HOME%\bin
        startManagedWebLogic.sh <Managed_Server_Name> http//<Admin_Server_host>:<AdminServer_Port>
        ex : start WC_Collaborationm, UCM_Server1, WC_Spaces in this order.

 When prompted, enter the user name weblogic and password welcome1.
 Watch for the RUNNING status.

Console URLS

Login with weblogic/welcome1 for all consoles, unless you chose a different password.

 ConnectionName = any name you like
 Active Connection = Check this box to indicate this connection is the connection to the UCM
which is to hold all the spaces documents data. When you check the box you will get extra
    settings
             o Content Administrator = sysadmin
o Root Folder = A name of the root folder which will contain all your group space
                 folders.
             o e.g /MyWebCenter
o Application Name = A short string used to strip data in UCM
             o e.g. MYWC
Note: Once you have set Root Folder and Application Name do not change just one of the
values. If you want to change one value you HAVE to change both. Both of these settings are
used to seed data in the UCM for this WebCenter.
 RIDC Socket Type = leave as socked
 Server Host = host of the UCM
 Server Port = the intradoc port of the UCM
 Connection Timeout, Authentication Method = Web Server Context Root = leave as is
 Administrator Username = leave as is
 Once you have created that connection bounce your WebCenter.
 Check the WebCenter logs do not have any errors, also verify that webcenter console show
    documentation tab enabled now.

Verify Process Spaces:
 Go to WebCenter Spaces: http://WC_Spaces_server_host:WC_Spaces_server_port/webcenter
 In the resource Catalog (Under Administration -> Resources) see if BPM Spaces exist. If it exists
select it and choose Edit. In the popup verify the Name of the taskflows are preceded by an
    image
 Check if spaces named 'Process Workspace' and 'Modelling Space' is created and you are able to
open these two spaces without getting any error.
 Check if the Create Spaces Dialog has these three templates - 'Process Workspace Template',
'Process Instance Space Template' and 'Modelling Space Template'.

Adding BPM sample users to WC domain.
Note: This step is required only when WC and SOA(BPM) are on separate domain.
 Now that we have process spaces installed we will also need to ensure that the BPM users on
SOA domain are present on the Webcenter domain. We will use JXploerer to export and import
    users.
 Configure your embedded LDAP as follows:
 Go to wls console
   Select <domain> -> Security -> Embedded LDAP
 Change the (default generated) password (for example: weblogic1)
 Enable “Anonymous Bind Allowed” (don’t leave this enabled in production)
 Connect to LDAP using JXplorer
 Download and install JXplorer
 Open Jxplorer, go to file and click connect.
 Enter connection details of your BPM server as below (Note: user name cn=Admin user name is
a constant identifier for the Administrator of the embedded LDAP and that does not change)

 Once you create connection in the left pane go to <your Domain> and select the artifact you
    need to export.
 Click on LDif and select “Export sub-tree” and click “ok”

 Save the file.
 Now create a connection to your webcneter sever (similar to step 3)
 Once done, select the domain, click on “LDif->Import file” and import the file saved in step 6.
