With the official launch of the Cultural Olympiad on 21 June, we've had a very busy time in the
last week publishing news, reviews and interviews, as well as the wonderful words of our

Sue Austin's ‘Creating the Spectacle!’ got its first public outing at the Fleet, Dorset on 27 June.
DAO writer Gini, reviews the event.

Nicole Fordham-Hodges gives an in-depth interview with poet Saradha Soobrayen, who took
part in the Southbank Centre's Poetry Parnassus, as part of the Festival of the World.

Ann Young reviews Rachel Gadsden's Unlimited Global Alchemy exhibition made in
collaboration with the Bambanini artists group of AIDs/ HIV survivors from South Africa. The
exhibition is on show now, at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology in Cambridge.

Richard Downes gives a disability perspective on Yoko Ono's Live Art - 'Cut Piece' in a review
of the artists' retrospective 'To The Light' at the Serpentine Gallery, London.

Paul Cockburn reviews a performance of 'Janice Parker's intriguing dance piece Private Dancer'
which previewed at the Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow.

Ray Hewitt reviews BBC1's Imagine... Theatre of War, an extraordinary documentary about the
making of Bravo 22 Company's production 'The Two Worlds of Charlie F'.
Jo Verrent is left with the desire to hear more and more of Jez Colborne's 'Call of the Sirens',
produced by Mind the Gap, despite having had her dream dashed to see them perform in the
wilds on Ilkley Moor

There has been some good news for Accentuate, the programme of disability projects for the
south east region. The uScreen project offering young deaf & disabled people the opportunity to
make films online, has been nominated for the semi-finals of the National Lottery Awards. Find
