									  Resource Manual
for Victims of Crime

ASIS International Foundation project to raise awareness
of victims’ services among private and corporate security managers

This project was supported by Grant No. 2005 VFGXK019 awarded
by the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S.
Department of Justice. Points of view in this document are those of
the author and do not necessarily represent the official position or
policies of the U.S. Department of Justice.
Resource Manual for Victims of Crime
The ASIS International Foundation designed this resource manual to improve the capacity of the
private corporate security profession to address and respond to victim concerns in the workplace.
Security professionals must keep pace with law enforcement and criminal justice in order to ensure
that correct and timely victim services are provided where and when they are needed. Information in
this guide includes:

   !" Violent Crimes

!" Crimes Affecting Immigrant or Minority Populations

   !" Motor Vehicle Crimes

   !" Crimes Pertaining to Children

!" Victims of Crimes with Disabilities

   !" Financial Crimes

   !" Hate Crimes

   !" Stalking

   !" Domestic Violence

   !" Sexual Assault

Additionally, the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) Web site, www.ojp.usdoj.gov/ovc, offers
numerous links to resources that may be of interest to your employees who are victims of a crime. The
OVC’s Directory of Crime Victim Services is designed to help service providers and individuals locate
nonemergency crime victim services in the U.S. and abroad.

We hope that this guide will enable you to find resource information quickly for employees that may
need assistance in these areas.

more than 35,000 members worldwide. Founded in 1955, ASIS is dedicated to increasing
the effectiveness and productivity of security professionals by developing educational
programs and materials that address broad security interests, such as the ASIS Annual
Seminar and Exhibits, as well as specific security topics. ASIS also advocates the role
and value of the security management profession to business, the media, governmental
entities, and the general public. By providing members and the security community with
access to a full range of programs and services, and by publishing the industry’s number
