Nintendo’s Latest Wii Is Revving to Fight the iPad for the Gamers’ Hearts In case you haven’t heard, Nintendo has been experiencing great sales losses because of two things: One, stagnation and two, new mobile gaming platforms. One of the said culprits for the Japanese GameBoy maker is the iPad. And we could all figure why they said that. Not only is the iPad less expensive than a GameBoy that requires game tapes and upgrades and downloads, it is also way more functional than a GameBoy or a PSP. Plus, it is easier to sell an iPad for cash once you start hating it than a game console. But it looks like the game genius is starting to rise from the ashes by introducing a new product. Just recently, Nintendo announced that it will be soon be releasing the Wii U GamePad on the market, their second generation Wii console that experts believe is their moot attempt to rival the iPad 3. If you’re a desperate gamer who hates prodding the big iPad screen with your fingers just to have some fun, you might as well sell your iPad for cash and start waiting for the appearance of this console. The Japan-based video game company recently revealed a gaming console next to their original line of Nintendo Wii which will feature a 6.2 inch screen which will work as a touch screen game board, an interactive map for additional game play and a second monitor for when you’re tired of looking up at the TV. This video game console is also equipped with an NFC (or Near Field Communication) and will also function as a TV remote. Fascinating? Well just you wait. The successor of Wii, the Wii U, was introduced last year during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2011 and aims at getting back Nintendo’s “core gamers.” This game console which features a touchscreen controller (perhaps the first in the video gaming console industry) is called a GamePad and will allow players to keep on playing with their game even when the TV screen is closed. It also has a second controller called Pro Controller which is more of a traditional gaming console controller (of course with analog sticks for an ultimate game play). So if you’re a traditional gamer who loves new technology too, you might want to sell your old iPad to get this. The Wii U is commercially released as the first 8th gen entry of Nintendo and will support compatibility with Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck, Wii’s most popular game peripherals. However, Wii addicts and kid gamers will not be too happy to know that it is not compatible with a Nintendo GameCube discs so players would need to download and purchase games from the Virtual Console service. Sounds bad? Well, you’re not the only one who reacted to that. Apparently, the Japanese game company is planning to showcase a social window where players can interact with one another by commuting messages using their Wii tabs and consoles. Reports also say they’ll be integrating Facebook and Twitter. Erm, we’re not very sure Wii U will make us want to sell an iPad for cash with all this extra stuff on the side. What is Nintendo really doing here? Source: http://cashforipadsblog.tumblr.com/post/26162335387/nintendos-latest-wii-is-revving-to-fight- the-ipad-for
