Phosphotidylcholine: This is one of the most abundant phospholipids in the brain. It not only makes up the bulk of the membrane’s lipid structure, but also is vital for the formation of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which is strongly associated with memory and learning. There is a constant turnover in this phospholipid, especially with injury and disease. Feeding phosphotidylcholine to patients with brain injuries and strokes has been shown, in some studies, to not only speed up their recovery, but to make their recovery more complete.
