Notice of Race
1.1 The Winter Series will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules
of Sailing 2009 - 2012
1.2 Centerboard yachts shall comply with Part I of the YNZ Safety Regulations.
2.0 Eligibility and Entry
2.1 Racing is open to boats of all centerboard classes.
2.2 Advance entries will be accepted until 0900 hours on the 29th April 2012 by
completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of:
- $65 for the series of 10 race days
- or $10.00 per race day.
2.3 Measurement is not required but each boat shall submit proof of holding a valid
class measurement or rating certificate at registration if requested.
2.4.1 To be eligible to compete, each competitor, and each entrant and crewmember
shall be a financial member of a member club of Yachting New Zealand (YNZ),
or of a club recognised by that person’s national authority.
3.0 Schedule of Events
3.1 The Winter Series will consist of two series each of five race days.
3.2 Registration for the Winter Series will be held between 0900 and 1000
hours on the day of the first race of Series One.
3.3 Registration for each individual race day of either series will be held
between 1000 and 1015 hours on each race day.
3.4 A compulsory Briefing for all competitors will be held at the NSC
Clubhouse at 1015 hours each race day.
3.5 A Prize Giving and Awards Presentation is scheduled for the evening of
Saturday 8th September 2012
3.6 No races will start after 1500 each race day.

4.0 Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.
5.0 Racing Area
The races will be held on the water of Hawke Bay.
6.0 Courses to be Sailed
6.1 The courses will be displayed on the Start Boat prior to the first start of
6.2 Courses will generally be ‘modified trapezoid’ for Optimist Class and
either, Triangular, Windward / Leeward or a combination of both for all
7.1 The Low Point Scoring System of Appendix A will apply to the Optimist
The Bonus Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply to all other
7.2 Six races will be required to be completed to constitute each series.
7.3 No score will be excluded until eight races have been completed in each
7.4 When eight races have been completed in a series then the competitor’s
worst score will be excluded; when ten races have been completed the two
worst scores will be excluded.
7.5 When twelve races have been completed in the combined series then the
competitor’s three worst scores will be excluded.
8.1 Certificates will be awarded to the first three place getters in each class in
8.2 Trophies will be awarded to the winner of each class for the Winter Series
based on the nett score for the two series.
8.3 Prizes may be awarded to the competitor/s who finishes the greatest number
of races in the combined series
8.4 Other prizes may be awarded
9.0 Replacement of Crew or Equipment
9.1 Substitution of competitors will not be allowed without prior written approval
of the race committee.
9.2 Substitution of competitors will not be allowed for single-handed boats.
9.3 Substitution of competitors may be allowed for two-handed boats though the
substitute helm shall be the crew of that boat in the first instance.
10.0 Radio Communication
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio
communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile
11.0 Disclaimer of Liability
Competitors participate in the Winter Series entirely at their risk. See rule 4
(Racing Rules) Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any
liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction
with or prior to, during, or after the series.

Yachting New Zealand believes will further the interests and objectives of Yachting New Zealand. I acknowledge my right to
access to and correction of this information. The consent is given in accordance with the Privacy Act 1993.
