Dear Parents of East High School Students:

        On Saturday, May 19, East High School will be hosting the Junior/Senior Prom in our school gymnasium;

this event is very special to all of our students. Safety is always our number one priority. This year we are

implementing a new policy for our Prom — all students will be required to submit to a breathalyzer test in order to

be admitted to the Prom. If the breathalyzer should indicate alcohol use, a student’s parents will be contacted

immediately and school consequences given in accordance to our school policies.

        It is mandatory that all students submit to this test. If any student should refuse, the following will occur:

                1). The student will not be allowed to attend the Prom.

                2). The student’s parents/guardian will be called to pick the student up.

        We want the Prom to be a positive and memorable event for our students. There have been some past

school activities that students have attended under the influence of alcohol; we are trying to eliminate those

occurrences. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you should have any questions, please call me

at 607-936-3746.

Sincerely,

Joseph A. Tobia, Principal
