Workshop Descriptions
Session I - Team Building/Group Process Skills
This session will explore the concepts of communication, leadership, and goal setting through a series of group
challenges. Students will explore their role within a group while working together to solve a variety of physical
and mental challenges. Participants will be encouraged to make real world connections through observations of
their team’s performance.
Session II - Taking a Step towards Powerful Presentations (Public Speaking)
This session will explore the importance of strong presentation skills with a focus on public speaking. Students
will learn the key components of a speech and how to organize them effectively. Students will practice
sequencing segments of a sample speech before developing and presenting their own impromptu presentations
based on fun and engaging materials provided by the instructors.
Session III - Mapping Our Plan (Planning and Organizing)
This session will explore the process of planning an event or project . Instructors will guide students through
team activities in which they walk through the process of organizing a hypothetical event. Groups will decide
upon the type of event they want to organize, identify key components, develop a timeline, and work together to
split up/delegate responsibilities.
