                      CALENDAR PROJECT
                   Approximately Time Frame: 3 Weeks

This project should begin in the beginning of November to be completed for
Christmas vacation. This makes an excellent gift for parents and/or
grandparents. Baby pictures are suggested you can substitute wedding, pets,
family, friends, etc.

Teachers may want to supply the students with holiday graphics on a shared
folder as a time saver.

Students that are not prepared with necessary photographs can use pictures off
the internet but will loose points on the project for failing to be prepared and
work with the scanner.

MATERIALS NEEDED:

 Minimum of 12 - 14 photographs (preferably baby pictures)
 Students should have a list of family birthdays, anniversaries, vacations,
weddings, sweet 16’s and other important dates.
 A list of the next year’s holiday dates (supplied by the teacher)
    Scanner
    Color printer
    PowerPoint
    Publisher
    Internet
 Index or Cardstock paper (13 sheets per student)
    Binding machine
 ½” spines for binding machine

PROCESS:

Students will each need to scan their photographs into the computer and save
them to their individual account or a disk for later use.

Students can be assigned each day (3 at a time) to each of the computer labs to
scan their pictures while others are working on the calendar portion of the
project.

Students will create an “Understated” calendar in Publisher filling in all the
holidays for the following year. Also to be added is all their family’s important
dates. (birthdays, anniversaries, vacations, weddings, etc)

Next, students will insert all their scanned photos into a PowerPoint
presentation. (There is no need for animation or effects. This project will be
printed)
Lastly, Students will create a cover for their calendar. This should be some sort of
greeting card, or special sentiment to their parents.

The final phase will be printing and binding their calendar.

This should be ready to take home before the Winter Recess!
