SUB-SPECIALIST REGISTRAR
DIVISION OF NEONATOLOGY
DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS AND CHILD HEALTH
FACULTY OF HEALTH SCIENCES
Applications are invited for a fixed-term two-year full-time contract appointment to a sub specialty registrar
training post in the Division of Neonatology
Requirements:
FCPaed (SA) or equivalent
Registered or registerable as a specialist Paediatrician with the Health Professions Council of South
Africa (HPCSA)
Ability and experience in teaching
Willingness to provide after hours service at a satellite training facility in the Northern suburbs
The ability to work in a professional team and to maintain good interpersonal relations with staff and
clients
Advantageous:
More extensive and more senior experience in Neonatal Medicine at tertiary level will be advantageous
Candidates from Gauteng and Kwazulu-Natal are encouraged
Responsibilities:
Be an actively participating member of the Division of Neonatology, based at Groote Schuur Hospital
Provide and supervise neonatal care at all levels (Intensive/High/Special/Normal) at Groote Schuur
Hospital
Participate in academic activities at an undergraduate and postgraduate level within the Division of
Neonatology
Take part in and initiate research within the field of Neonatology
Be an actively participating member of a Private Neonatology team at a satellite training facility in the
Private sector of the Western Cape
The incumbent will be expected to complete an Mphil Neonatology (UCT) and sit the Cert. Neon (SA)
exam
The annual cost of employment, including 16 Hours Commuted Overtime is R899 414.
