							Safe Work Procedure                                                           Bench/Pedestal Drill


             Bench / Pedestal Drill


    Students must not use this machine unless instructed by a qualified technology teacher.

    Use Earmuffs and Goggles at all times.

    Wear dust mask if operation produces dust

    Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery – restrain long hair.

    Ensure the drill bit is in the chuck correctly.

    Ensure the chuck key is removed prior to operating the machine.

    Adjust all guards correctly prior to use.

    When drilling make certain that the material is held tight. (Clamp or vice)

    If appropriate have a piece of scrap material under the material you are drilling.

    Keep work area clean at all times.

    Machines must be isolated from power sources when being cleaned, adjusted, maintained
     or repaired.




    EYE AND EAR PROTECTION
         MUST BE WORN




    Sample SWP must not be used before first customising
      to suit the particular machine and school situation.
