            Panel Question One
“As is the case of many North Carolina
communities, the loss of traditional
manufacturing industries has strongly impacted
the economic vitality of Burke County. Burke
County wants and needs to attract a new genre
of high technology and service-based industries
to the area to help fill this vacuum. Based on
your knowledge and experience, what does a
community of our size and demographics need
to provide these target industries, by way of
data and telecommunications infrastructure, to
make our area an appealing prospect for the
location of major facilities.”
          Panel Question Two
“ Other than the ARRA funds and Google
  Fiber for Communities which are
  currently receiving much press
  coverage, what other sources of
  private/public direct funding or
  government/corporate partnerships
are you aware of, that can assist local
  and regional efforts in broadband
  expansion? How would you suggest
that Burke County reach out to
potential sources of funding or possible
  development partners?”
        Panel Question Three

“How can Burke County best work
in partnership with existing
regional Broadband consortia and
economic development groups to
provide mutual support and a
united front to develop a 21st
Century data communications
infrastructure throughout Western
North Carolina?”

 MCNC Broadband Expansion

 The Microcomputer Center of North
Carolina will be placing a major fiber
