Note from the Chairman
What a great start to this term which has definitely had its highs and lows. We have had the worst weather
conditions imaginable, rearranged programmes, sickness and a homeless keyboard!
On a high note we had a fantastic concert at Elham with positive audience feedback. Hothfield was one of the
coldest but quite beautiful places and after a frantic programme change we gave a very good performance to a
packed church. Peter sang a solo and we were accompanied by Simon Lawford, organist for Canterbury Cathedral
- what treats! Back by popular demand to Stowting this Wednesday and I am sure they will give us the usual warm
welcome. The men are now resplendent in their new ‘team ties’ and the ladies red and black certainly brightenes up
the carol concerts.
Running the choir presents the committee with an endless list of jobs. However, we really do need your input and
help to get all the jobs done. My particular thanks go to Roger for giving the keyboard a new home.
We are so fortunate to have Peter. We all respond very well to him and there seems to be a good atmosphere. We
must not let him down, must attend rehearsals regularly, must NOT chatter during rehearsals and must do our
The rejuvenated Cantores is becoming more well known in the area, I have had enquiries from three people this
week about wanting to join us. We should be prepared to work hard, be enthusiastic and committed and give our
best performances possible. Thanks to you all we have now set a higher benchmark - so its onwards and upwards
Cantores has an exciting year ahead and the New Year starts with our Quiz and Social on January 29th. This is a
really good evening which gives us all a chance to relax, socialise and have fun.
I hope you all have a good rest and come back refreshed in the New Year, raring to go!
Finally, I wish you a Happy Christmas and all good things for 2011.
