South West Regional Dementia Workforce Network
Terms of Reference
1.1 Share and capture positive practice in learning and development activity for
1.2 Promote partnership working across all sectors involved in workforce and
1.3 Map dementia learning and development activity across the South West
1.4 Identify gaps in type and levels of learning and development activity.
1.5 Inform the workforce resource bank on the South West Dementia Partnership
1.6 Identify information support needs.
1.7 Influence and inform development of dementia resources with the new
regional Learning Platform provided by Tribal Consortia and commissioned by
the South West Strategic Health Authority.
1.8 Cover specific topics and issues within the meetings as identified by the
1.9 Consider forms of communication for the network members.
1.10 Identify funding opportunities for learning and development activities.
1.11 Ensure relevant stakeholders are aware of the work of the network.
1.12 Ensure content is linked to other relevant areas in health and social care

Social Enterprise Sector
Those who may wish to join could be dementia workforce leads, dementia trainers,
dementia training providers and funding bodies.
3 Frequency of Meetings
3.1 The Network is planned to meet bi-monthly and will run until March 2012.
3.2 The Network will have opportunity to consider how it can become self-
sustaining beyond March 2012.
3.3 It is anticipated that sub groups or working parties may need to be set up as

4.2 Notes will be taken by South West Development Centre and shared with the
Network and relevant and appropriate information will also be shared on the
South West Dementia Partnership website.
4.3 Agendas will be sent in advance of the meeting, and opportunity will be given
to the Network to influence content.
4.4 By December 2011, the Network will consider its future sustainability beyond

attending (travel, subsistence, caring costs) will not be met by SWDC.
5.2 Administration, venue, lunch and refreshments will be provided by SWDC.
6. Evaluation and review
6.1 Members will be invited to complete an evaluation form after each meeting to
give feedback on topic relevance and administration and facilitation of the
