biography TSgt Johnson graduated from Assumption High School, Napoleonville, Louisiana class of 1977. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. In December 1981, Johnson joined the United States Army as a 12 Bravo Combat Engineer and completed Basic Training and AIT at Fort Lenardwood, Mo. In 1984 TSgt Johnson cross-trained to 71 Lima and worked in Finance as a Payroll Specialist. His unit was deployed for Southwest Asia for the War in the Persian Gulf. In 2002 Johnson joined the United States Air Force Reserves and trained in Information Management. TSgt Johnson was deployed to Afghanistan in 2007 War on Terror and Fighting Enduring Freedom. It was from this duty that TSgt Johnson retired after 23 years. After retirement, TSgt Johnson was certified as a JROTC instructor and instructed for two years at Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans, LA. TSgt Johnson now serves as an instructor at West Monroe High School in West Monroe, LA. His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Commendation Medal (3 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct, Humanitarian Service Metal, 3 AF Longevity Service National Defense Medal, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge, Primary Leadership Development Course, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon 3 rd Award, Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course, Southwest Asia Service Medal (with 2 bronze stars), Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Ribbon and ISAF Medal just to list a few. TSgt Johnson holds a Bachelors degree from Southern University, Associates degree from Delgado Community College and presently pursuing a Master’s degree in education at Ft Hays State University.
