    examples)
     • Why is it important to understand geological
       processes?


• If you have your blue ERP packet, take it out
   Create an outline of your abstract:
                           Title
                       Author, Date
                     Research address

• Sentence 1 - State the topic, question, purpose or problem
  studied in the research.
• Sentence 2-4 – Recap the methods you used to do the
  experiment. You don’t have to go into detail; summarize!
• Sentence 5 & 6 – Results. Summarize your data. State
  your findings.
• Sentence 7 – State what conclusions you have drawn from
  your findings. Was your hypothesis supported?
   Share your abstract Outline…
• Exchange papers with someone at your table.
  – Review the abstract outline you now have.
  – Check to make sure all of the following parts are in the
    outline:
     • The topic, question, purpose or problem studied in the
       research.
     • Brief explanation of the procedure you used to do the
       experiment.
     • Summarize of the data.
     • What conclusions were drawn from your findings. Was the
       hypothesis supported or refuted?
  – Make comments letting the person know what is missing.
           Write the Abstract
• If you do not have access to a computer at
  home, you may now get on a computer to
  type up your abstract.
• Everyone else
  – Write a draft of your abstract now.
  – Type up your abstract for homework.


• NOTE: There is an example abstract on
  page 10 of your ERP packet.
